What? More car cleaning to fight the climate crisis? What’s next? Fucking for virginity?

Here in Italy in many cities at the center you can enter only if you are a resident of the center, if you have a clean car, or if you pay a fee
Can we charge him for every stupid thing he comes up with?
It always made me confused how my old car was in the second highest tax band (one below max value and above) yet it wouldn’t be charged when driving in low emissions or even the ultra low emissions zones.
It’s a no-brainer, really. In a decade or so we’ll be shocked about how we allowed vehicles to spread their poison in densely populated areas.
Familiarity brings contempt. It has been like this for a long time, so people forget that air pollution is a serious problem, that causes a lot of death and disease.
Just yesterday I was in London and it’s incredible how much free parking you can find even in the most central areas. Why exactly are we giving away this valuable space?
IS 60 GBP p/m a small fee?
This is the perfect idea to make the poor people pay for the green transition. English people is usually much more obedient of continental ones, in EU this would trigger another wave of gilet jaune protest.
Foolishness !
Drive the poor people out I guess.
Just statist things.
I wouldn’t have a problem with this if public transport was 1st class and not having to be packed like a sardine in a tin box every morning.
Ah yes let’s tax the poorest more, the ones who can’t afford one of those cleaner cars that you’re wanting everyone to get. That’ll surely make them afford one.
Really it’s not just cars or the UK. This mentality seems the norm with public officials in power.
EDIT: It seems A Lot of people missed the part where I Specifically said these types of policies are “not just cars or the UK”. For instance it applies to solar panels and home ownership as well where those that can afford it get to make use of the rebates/tax deductions; only in this London cars case it’s not a deduction for driving green as with solar panels, but a penalty for not doing so.
Depending on country, both in and outside cities where cars are needed – Penalty for those driving older gas cars, deductions for those that can afford EV cars. My point was that the penalties are not going to help those that already can’t afford to switch up no matter how much they might want to.
EDIT EDIT: Some people apparently cannot read so I do not know how I can express it any clearer that it’s not just about cars..
Ban cars from all city centers!
I understand the necessity of such a move but I worry about the impact it has on poorer Londoners. And I know people say poor people don’t drive but there will 100% be those who have a car but can barely afford it and this will impact them greatly. Maybe those of that socioeconomic status should be given free or heavily discounted travel. I know London has an Oyster card??? Or something not sure that’s what you call it. How expensive is that?
“More taxation”….Labours answer to everything when they’ve fucked up the budget of whatever they’re running (Saddiq Khan is a Labour mayor). And they wonder why people dread them getting into power.
