There was no consensus regarding bringing Vitor Roque in January. Deco insisted to advance his arrival and bring him early despite the refusal of Xavi, who was more inclined towards signing a midfielder. He felt no need to bring in another striker. @alexpintanel

What bothered Roque was the fact that Xavi played Ferran over him in the El Clasico when it was evident the team needed a striker. [@alexpintanel]
❗️Deco was the one who insisted on Vitor Roque’s arrival in January. Xavi wanted a midfielder and he believed that the number nine position was well covered with Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Guiu.

This is the civil war of Amateurs (Xavi and Deco).
But this only explains why Roque didn’t play much this second half of the season.
If Xavi wanted Roque to stay in Brazil six months longer and come this summer, he would count on him in the squad for next season. Now he wants him gone…
Even if xavi didn’t want him, like he’s there now so use him. Everyone knows what you’re gonna get from ferran and it doesn’t always work so why not give players like roque and guiu a try and see what they can bring.
So glad we heard about him constantly and got all hyped up for him…
This is such a shit show
A shame Xavi didn’t leave.
I’m sorry Xavi has some ten hag level delusion if he truly believes that Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Guiu is good striker depth. Roque is hands down better than Guiu and Lewy’s washed.
Xavi could get sacked early next season if we don’t start strong.
Glad Arda guler didn’t join us. Xavi would have messed up him too. After reading all this news, why would any young player except Spanish wanna join us ? No one would risk it. It’s gonna backfire so bad. Just wait and watch. Xavi is the problem and the staff too
Let’s remember that Lewa’s form started to improve right after Roque arrived. At the time it seemed we were playing each game without a striker, after he arrives Lewa starts playing and scoring so of course now it seems like it was a waste but at the time it seemed like a drastic need.
how the hell did Xavi think we did not need a backup to out-of-form 35 yr old striker?
manager needs to manage the team he is given
