2. This is what I don’t get…

   Keenan Ivory Wayans helped Robert Townsend with Hollywood Shuffle in 1986 and wrote and directed I’m Gonna Git You sucka in 1988. Wayans created In Living Color and had a big feud with Fox over control, ownership, and royalties. Marlon and Shawn did the movie Don’t Be a Menace in 1996 and it was produced by KIW’s production company.

   So by 2000, the Wayans, (Keenan, Shawn, and Marlon) weren’t able to do a deal that protected their interests?

   Scary Movie was an unexpected blockbuster and the Wayans came back for the sequel. They weren’t involved in the third movie and at the time it was announced they chose a two film deal with Sony instead of staying in the Scary Movie franchise (White Chicks and Little Man).

   Is Marlon saying ownership of the series was stolen or that they aren’t properly credited and paid for the sequels? Both?

   So writers generally get paid for sequels using characters they created for a company when they have no involvement?
