Think he’s living in a fantasy if he thinks overwhelming Labour win will be a hung parliament.
I mean his message is pretty clear, if Tory voters don’t want the chaos of a hung parliament they should switch the only party that can win outright, Labour, so they can avoid it.
*may not… hmm… I guess there could be a series of black sawn events resulting in a Tory victory… but I don’t think you would bet the farm on it…
Michael Thrasher’s analysis – that Labour will be *thirty two* seats shy of an overall majority – seems very bizarre. Bookmakers don’t always get stuff right, but the best odds you can get on a Labour overall majority right now are 1/8. That’s a _huge_ difference.
The Tories have been deluding themselves that they had a chance of winning the next election. After the complete drubbing in the council and mayoral elections, then they cannot hold that line anymore. They can’t fight on a “we’re going to utterly destroyed” mindset, so they are now deluding themselves into this position.
Basically, they know they are screwed. We know they are screwed. The only difference is that they cannot admit it publicly. Or at least Sunak cannot admit that he is the leader that has condemned them to oblivion.
He is correct! They’re all getting a free rope and a trip to the forest!
Labour will very likely get in without a problem but fuck me, they havnt exactly had to do much to get into such a position. They better earn their stripes when the time comes and not squander the opportunity.
Maybe it is like in Russia, guy on top does not use internet, does not read news and everything he knows is from his 70 years old mates that dont read anything neither.
May not win.
It’s going to be a labour landslide.
Who is Sunak listening to and taking advice from? Surely the shyster knows that the game is up. Everyone has now realised that the Tories have been robbing the country blind for the past 14 years.
Health minister Maria Caulfield:
> “And that shows that they haven’t really been tempted by other parties,” she said and added voters just need to **see the government delivering on promises. “We’re starting to make some inroads on that**. So by the time the election comes, people should feel that difference and not just know that it’s happening in theory.”
After 14 years they are now starting to “make some inroads “ on delivering. Next they will say they spent those years planning so they will be able to deliver everything in six months before the election.
Every day they hang on and make ridiculous excuses, more people will feel anger and frustration against them.
Hung parliament 😂
Wish I could live in that state of delusion.
The media and tories are really trying to hoodwink you with that worthless voter intention stat extrapolating from local results. They are taking you for fools. Labour is on course for a large majority.
Who’s advising him? Who’s feeding him all this nonsense?
Call the GE now.
Few things.
The ‘hung parliament’ crap gets rolled out as another attempt by the media to sway votes. Don’t believe it, Tories will get absolutely rolled in this coming election.
Secondly even if there was a hung parliament, who cares? Oh no, the parties would be forced to work together. Boohoo.
This whole fantasy is based on the difference between Labour and the Tories in the local elections being only 9%
General election polls still have the gap at ~20%
People don’t vote the same ways in General Elections.
We’re getting there…it’s like when a football manager goes “look the results aren’t what we were expecting and I have much to discuss with the chairman”…usually when they are ten points adrift and the stands are empty on 70 minutes
If you calculate the GE seat potentials based on the ratios of council seats won you would get a Labour majority of 336, the Conservatives only on 39, and the Lib Dems as the second largest party on 76 seats.
Is this a useful or realistic statistic? No.
Buts its just as valid as the analysis the Tory cheerleaders are using to justify this pile of cope.
(and IMO will likely be closer to the actual outcome than a hung parliament.)
I dream of a hung Parliament and PR! Alas I think we’ll have a decade of red tories first.
Sunak, the constant liar, should be ousted for this lie alone.
He’s now using advanced tactics to his lies.
Bait and switch.
Bait (truth): We probably won’t win the election.
Switch (lie): It will be a hung parliament.
Yeah yeah, what he actually meant was that Conservative Party life is hanging by a thread.
“Hung parliament” ????
Is that tory code for “total political annihilation “?
😁
The kind of self-delusion you have to have to even exist as Rishi Sunak at this point.
Bespeaks the cloistered little communities the guys live in. Like, where’s your dignity? You’re not good at this, Tory policy has demonstrably flailed and then failed for the past decade.
I don’t even understand what data sets they are looking at that are illustrating “You’re doing a great job” to them?
What do they point to that merits and justifies their positions of such trust? These guys obviously have skill sets but clearly running the country isn’t one of them, so? When does the embarrassment become too great?
Hung parliament… I have an idea, here, hold my beer…
Threatening us with a government that won’t get stuff done? Been there, got the t-shirt mate.
If by hung parliament he means the Tories are going to be yeeted into the firmament he’s correct.
Given the polls Labour are in with a shout of getting a super majority…… So what the hell are they smoking?
Nah, we’re heading, destined for a wholesale change of government to Labour.
Not unthinkable, assuming the predictions are correct. The Tories are not popular, but neither is Starmer. Hence the lack of a predicted outright majority.
Not that I expect that will matter. The same way the Tories have always been able to assume the Unionists would back them over Labour, Labour can be near guranteed the SNP or Lib Dems would back them over the Tories.
I don’t think a coalition government led by Labour is unthinkable at all. Quite probable actually, especially since some long safe Labour seats like Rochdale have been lost, and others like it are likely under threat too.
Sky new projects a hung parliament in GE based on local elections result. It’s Sunday anchor Trevor Philips said to a Tory minister that they do everything at Sky to be helpful to the Tory party. Well, I’ve know that for years. The methodology at Sky is wrong so much that no other pollster agrees and so thier hung parliament projections are for the birds. Rishi knows his number is up, and still clinging on. Lizz Truss didn’t understand any numbers and she still had the self respect to quit after 49 days.
Would it even be a bad thing if we had a government that could only make decisions from group consensus rather than have a government representing only a minority of peoples interests that makes all decisions?
It’s seems every Tory PM of the past decade is determined to embarrass themselves on the way out.
Just call the GE when it’s clear you are no wanted.
I think he’s headed for a P45 the second we get an election
After the last couple of elections I was actually convinced we were going to be close to hung parliaments forever longer until they changed the voting process… but nah, not this one.
Seems to have forgotten the tories were propped up at different times by the Lib Dems and the DUP
We can certainly hope for a hung parliament between labour and the Lib Dems and Greens. With Tories being pushed into 4th place and insignificance. Only just ahead of Reform.
It’ll also have the perk of forcing Labour to deal with actual left leaning people.
A hung parliament, not a bad idea plus work for joiners/carpenters
Labour supported by LibDems and.. Back to SM/CU? Keith could say that Lab has to compromise on it…Good
I’d rather have a hung or coalition government than another 5 years of Tory oppression
