7. It sounded stupid when the European Union put forth a similar statement and it sounds even more ludicrous coming from Ukraine who literally just set aside a scheduled election cycle.

   Putin recently (a few days ago) announced that Zelensky was a wanted criminal by Russia, so this is a normal diplomatic retaliation.

   This is a diplomatic game, but can have real and reaching consequences, especially at the UN, where alliances are made and broken.

   If, for example, France were to join Ukraine in this statement, it would have to stop all diplomatic contact with Russia, kick out the Russian embassy from Paris, and all Russians on French soil would have to either show cause for asylum to become French, or be deported to Russia.

   While France is very much an ally to Ukraine, this step is akin to a preparation for a direct war, which is not a position France wants to take. France wants peace above all, and this dramatic posturing is just pissing us off.

9. U.s. led regime change is bad and doesn’t guarantee a better outcome than Putin. He’s literally the poster child for u.s. meddling in other nations affairs backfiring.
