France deployed troops from its 3rd Infantry Regiment, a part of the Foreign Legion, to support Ukraine’s 54th Independent Mechanized Brigade in Slavyansk. Former US deputy undersecretary of defence for policy, Stephen Bryen, made the claim in an article published by the Asia Times. Around 100 French Foreign Legion soldiers had arrived in Ukraine, with plans for approximately 1,500 more to follow. These troops were being posted directly in a hot combat area and were intended to help the Ukrainians resist Russian advances in Donbas.

  1. Bah. Bluf … They thjnk they have nukes… We also have them … Even france as enough 😉 at least for russia

  2. This is great news. At last there's someone that gets it and is willing to do a bit more than just send weapons.

Now 1,500 soldiers is a relatively small number of troops in this conflict. But still it is a hugely important symbolic act. And it may be the beginning of a trend.

(I am, by the way, dismayed by all the people that embrace evil. As can be witnessed in some of the comments on this video. But then again they may not be real people!)

  3. I posted a comment a minute ago and it disappeared.

I'm very grateful for what France is doing. There's an example here for everyone that cares about human freedom and human life.
