The Russian Officers Killed in Ukraine project discovered an obituary for Colonel Denis Lapin. According to the obituary, Lapin was eliminated by a HIMARS strike on the headquarters on May 3 of this year.
Lapin is a rather remarkable personality. He is the son of Colonel General Alexander Lapin. Lapin Sr. in 2022 commanded the Center group of the Russian Armed Forces. It is known that Lapin Jr. near Chernigov lost approximately three-quarters of the tank regiment entrusted to him. He suffered the natural end for all occupants.

  1. Another interesting aspect is seemingly UA conducted a HIMARS strike on 1 Guards Tank regiment in 3rd of may. Noone even reported on that.

  2. Maybe too bad? It sounds like he was just the kind of officer Ukraine wants in the Russian army. He might be replaced by somebody competent…but probably not.

  3. It’s a shame he didn’t survive long enough to badly manage & destroy another Russian tank regiment.

Thankfully nepotism will probably promote another useless son of the elite!

I imagine he will be greatly comforted to be buried with all his shiny medals…

  4. This was such an unnecessary loss! Regretfully he was not able to finish his mission, but only achieved 75%. Only 25% more to go, but cut too short. 25% short.

  5. I wouldn’t be so sure. That photo with vodka and bread looks sus. This kind of mourning is something a family usually does. This could be a PR move by Lapin himself where he shows up next week “back from the dead” receiving another medal from his daddy.

  6. Wasn’t this the gimp that had videos of him taken supposedly at the front but was actually at border defence areas?

  7. I would say that this one is bad actually. Such exceptionally dumb officers rare even in russian army.

  8. He looks like a real big douche. Probably better that he’s gone forever.
