1. The Hawaii fishing industry has also benefited from the expansion of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument in the NW Hawaiian islands, which has lead to a big increase in tuna and other species populations. 

   Of course these commercial fishermen were initially opposed to and lobbied hard against any type of protections that had come up over the decades. Glad to read that regulations are helping some  fish and fisheries.
