Republicans are pulling out all the stops to reverse EV adoption / The Biden administration’s efforts to move forward on clean air policies are hitting snags by way of GOP-led legislation and lawsuits designed to hurt electric vehicle progress.

   Last month, 25 Republican attorneys general filed a lawsuit intended to overturn the EPA’s recently finalized tailpipe rules aimed at slashing greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2032. In a statement, Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman

   accused President Biden of being “willing to sacrifice the American auto industry and its workers in service of its radical green agenda.”

   The EPA rules require automakers to build less polluting passenger vehicles starting in 2027, but they stop short of completely phasing out gas-powered vehicles. Still, several Democratic-controlled states, like California and Maryland, have pledged to ban the sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035.

   Environmental groups are jumping in to defend the EPA and oppose efforts to overturn clean air policies, including the Environmental Defense Fund, which said that the EPA policies reduce deadly pollution and create good jobs.

   The EDF also points out that Kentucky specifically has benefitted $14 billion in investment and gained 14,000 jobs related to clean
   vehicles.

   Other environmental groups say the US risks falling behind China and other competitors in the global shift to EVs.

3. Air pollution is only 1 aspect on how EVs impact the environment. Metal mining?? Energy source?? Recycling?? Range?? Cost?? These cars are basically a bullshit pipedream, rich ppl virtue signalling statement. I can totally get behind hybrids bc thats a better balance, but full EV is stupid, the current technology doesnt cut it

4. What’s really killing EV adoption is its inconvenience.

   If you live in a major city, there’s no where to charge unless you own a home with a garage or driveway, which creates a short ceiling of buyers. Apartment people with shared parking or street parking are screwed.

   PLUS you need to spend the extra cash to install a home charger.

   If you live in rural areas, the crappy range will make you worry all the time and screw you at one point.

   All this makes EV unattractive to mass buyers.

   Edit: Not to mention that after just a few years, an EV’s battery lose a ton of its capacity, limiting your range even more.

5. Yep it’s definitely republicans’ fault that people aren’t buying EVs at the rate they were expected to.  It’s definitely nothing to do with them being inconvenient and expensive to own and operate. Yep I was going to buy one myself but Donald Trump called me up and told me not to so I didn’t.
