Could Germany’s obsession with homeopathy explain the low vaccination rate?

  1. No, I don’t think so.

Personal snapshot: Every single friend, colleague or acquaintance of mine of whom I know they believe in homeopathy is vaccinated. They all also believe in „normal“ medicine.

I.e.: Homeopathy is seen as something additional, not as a replacement to normal medicine.

Also, afaik, several forms of homeopathy are about strengthening the immune system. Belief in Ivermectin doesn’t mix well with belief in homeopathy – it think it’s likely contradictory, instead.

That said, I have no doubts that there are homeopathic anti-vaxxers.

  2. Vaccines combine nicely with homeopathic thinking, as they use a small amount of the pathogen to prevent the disease.

Doctors don’t mind, as there is no active ingredients in homeopathic medicines so they won’t interfere.

  3. Hardly, doesn’t France have an even bigger obsession than Germany with homeopathy? Yet, after a more difficult start for France, Germany has been doing worse than them for a while with the COVID vaccination.

  4. Common denominator here is esoterics. Not necessarily homeopathy. That said: fuck homeopathy. Bunch of lies and bullshit.

  5. Why do journalists grasp for obscure/outlandish explanations, when the most obvious one — conservative values — is the most likely?

Conservative people simply don’t want to take a drug with limited benefits and unknown long-term effects. Especially when they are being coerced to do so.
