Trajan becomes Roman Emperor after the death of Nerva. He enacted welfare policies for the poor and led military campaigns which saw the Empire expand to its greatest size ever. To honor his accomplishments, the Roman Senate bestowed upon him the title of “Optimus Princeps” – 98AD
