Prior to US sanctions support was at around 60%. [2019](https://www.neuepresse.de/Nachrichten/Politik/Deutschland-Welt/forsa-Umfrage-Mehrheit-der-Deutschen-fuer-Bau-von-Nordstream-2) at 73% and an overwhelming majority (77%) considered Grenell’s threats of sanctions on Nord Stream 2 as blackmail and a huge percentage (91%) as unacceptable. Then [2020](https://www.ost-ausschuss.de/sites/default/files/pm_pdf/OA-Forsa-Umfrage-Nord-Stream-handout%20ENG.pdf) support for Nord Stream 2 rose to 77% and dropped slightly in 2021 to 75%. By the [beginning of this year](https://www.presseportal.de/pm/6694/5115298) (sanctions waved) it was down to 60%, with the Greens being the only party where a majority (55%) opposed sticking with Nord Stream 2.
The US making such statements and basically suggesting they will find ways to make Germany follow them is really the worst they could do…
And Germany still has not officially announced what repercussions will be of an invasion. Weakening NATO and Ukraine.
