  12. Yesterday, when I saw Adeyemi subbed off so early I was like “Yup, haramball starts now” and I kinda enjoyed to see PissG suffering their way out of that game.

    Nevertheless, they were unlucky. Hitting the woodwork so often would drive me fucking mental. Dortmund were indeed the better side, knew how to control the tempo and I really liked how they defended. Close to the players and with decisiveness. We need that too.

    Brandt was very good in the middle there, very reliable. But Hummels was the fucking piece.

    As I said last week, no bozo moments (from us or the ref), full throtle game and a bit of luck and we are through.

  15. Crazy stat: out of *every* player in the CL this season, Haaland has the 10th worst performance relative to xG. Mbappe also went negative across the campaign, putting him in the bottom half. Our boy Kane is the only one of those three European striking greats to be overperforming his xG in the tournament — as expected (:p). People would have very different ideas of who’s most clinical if they looked at season aggregate xG stats for various strikers. That comparison has so much more statistical power than commenting on the xG after individual matches, so it’s kinda weird and maybe ironic to me that people relatively rarely use xG for players.

    Between 2014 and 2021, Kane was the 1st/2nd most clinical finisher in all of Europe by xG metrics, above Messi, Ronaldo, Lewy, Benzema, and so on (the player who sometimes beat him in some models was actually Son).
