The relationship between Man City and delay-hit Co-op Live

  1. City’s owners, City Football Group (CFG), are believed to have invested just shy of 50 per cent of the £365million ($457m) total cost of the project.

Neither City nor the CFG will benefit directly from the arena financially when it is up and running, but there is a hope that the venue will add value to the group and will play a central part in the regeneration of the area around the Etihad.

  2. Absolutely disgusting how they’re using international capital to invest into British things.

If the club carries on playing a major part in regenerating one of the most poverty-stricken areas of Manchester, I will strongly consider giving serious thought to potentially penning a veritably stern email in opposition.

  3. It’s a shame that the delays are happening. It’s very possible that the venue could turn a profit within a year once it gets going, and having a few high profile sell-out concerts concerts like Olivia Rodrigo, touted as the next Taylor Swift have to cancel is not going to do the venue any favours just yet.

  4. I have said this elsewhere but a part of me was intrigued to see what this venue looked like and to come up to Manchester to see The Killers next month. But if they’re not gonna be ready, I’ll just stick to London
