Yeah but you wouldn’t be shocked if he manages to worm his way out of everything either.
Regardless of anything he WILL still be PM by the end of the week as it will take longer than a week to run a leadership contest. Boris will be PM during any contest
It’s probably worse for the long term of the country if he goes early.
The Conservatives are trying to wrap all their troubles up into this one man. It’s his fault only that everything is shit and we are corrupt. Get rid of him and the next leader will be a blank slate and *definitely* not someone who was behind him the whole time and at the same parties.
Sunak/Truss and CON+25 here we come.
Without names or specific details this is a pointless article. I still don’t expect the report itself to be meaningful – the *reaction* to said report when it’s eventually released is what matters.
Nah. Will all be forgotten about in a few weeks. He’ll just be that loveable rogue who loves a party 🤪
Considering Boris gets the report first and gets to decide what happens and what, if any, the punishment will be…. hmmm
If that’s so, the Met will have their own people to testify against him in court.
The conservatives have been planning on using Boris as a sacrificial goat from the start. They get everything they want out of Brexit, he takes the fall and leave them with clean hands in the next election.
The whole pandemic thing threw a spanner into the works. However it’s now time for him to be “Forced out”. The press will run their course, and the damage will be out of the news cycle before the next election comes around. Anyone who tries to being it up will be shut down with “that was on Boris Johnson not us”.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be surprised if enough people brought into it for them to win another election.
Nah. The newspapers don’t want that so he will be fine.
We’ve had so many rumours from (seemingly) anonymous sources that the report will be terrible this last week. Anyone get the feeling that they have been building up how *bad* the report will be too much? Like when it does come out, it will be bad but not as bad as expected, so they can play it as a victory.
Maybe I’m too cynical.
Let’s see if I have this right. The Telegraph wrote an article about the officers giving evidence. This was retweeted by someone adding some spice by saying it was “extremely damning” in the retweet even though they could not possibly have seen their evidence. The retweet was then reported in The Mirror as “according to reports their statements have been described as ‘extremely damning'”. Now the Manchester Evening News would like to go a step more hyperbolic by saying “a source” (who presumably has just as little access to the officer’s statements) will be very surprised if Boris is PM by the end of the week.
In that whole game of out-hyping each other’s headline, *readers are yet to hear from anyone who can verify that they have seen what the officers said to Gray*.
I have this strange feeling that by typing the sarcastic words “This could go nuclear” on Reddit, I’m going to see tomorrow’s headline in The Guardian saying SOURCES SUGGEST GRAY’S REPORT WILL DESTROY THE WORLD IN A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION.
i dont see what possible difference it would make.
Im sure theres a line of people who are in a good position to swindle this country like he and his most of his predecessing PMs have.
I am trying to think of who in the tory part could be *worse* than Boris and unfortunately the list is quite large
I think they underestimate the lack of shame this man has.
He’s not the type of man to stand down, because that would involve admitting his failings to *himself*, let alone others.
They’ll have to drag him kicking and screaming from the premises.
He’ll still be PM because the Sue Gray report goes TO HIM. And HE is the one who gets to decide what actions to take. Do you think he’ll do the right thing? I mean, it’s possible as a stopped clock is right twice a day
why is it so hard to get rid of a feckless leech in authority?
I vote for “golden” it’s a laboratory retriever its QI is actually higher than boris and its cuter but can be bribed with chewys.
He will be gone by summer, whatever the Grey report says
And good riddance 👋
Just announced the report won’t come out until next week due to “new evidence”.
Its a typical narcissist’s defence. First – distract the agenda (ending COVID precautions), then delay the admission.
Bloody love Sue Gray. Already my contender for SPOTY.
In any role outside of government he’d have been sacked years ago for gross misconduct without a notice period.
What does Johnson get out of it if he resigns?
Nothing?
Then it won’t happen.
As much as I want this cunt gone, I dread who will take his place. It all feels like finally managing to claw your way out of a giant pile of shit only to fall right into a septic tank.
It’s tactically important for the party that Johnson is still notionally in charge during what is widely expected to be a thorough kicking in the local elections in May. No new leader will want to take responsibility for that mess.
As much as i cant wait for this absolute prick to not be our PM i kinda want us to hold onto him until the next election.
I want these cunts to get what they voted for, i want these people to suffer, i want these people TO FUCKING REMEMBER everything they have put us through.
The shit i have heard, the shit i have seen is beyond laughable. This prick and his merry bandwagon have disgraced our country, they’ve cost people their lives all while laughing and drinking their way through it.
The stuff i have personally seen, the suffering ive personally seen, the lives lost, its just unfathomable.
I cant stand these cunts and i want people to REMEMBER what has happened at the next election. I dont want another tory coming in, allowing these pricks to say “oh but that was boris, we’ve changed” only to get right back to it after winning a GE.
This country deserves this prick, and it seems people are all too forgetful. Anything but a landslide victory against the tories in the next GE is unacceptable.
Fuck boris, but more importantly fuck the tories.
I imagine the shit that Carrie is giving him at the moment. “I’ve just got this place straight with all the lovely freebies and the expensive wallpaper and you want us to leave??? DO SOMETHING!.” You’ll have to drag her out of there kicking, screaming and biting.
Considering that the Tories have been banging on about Sue Greys report more than anybody AND considering Sue will be out of the job if she goes against the government.
I feel confident in my total guess that the report will find no “technical malfeasance” in Boris’ premiership or actions.
He’s going nowhere. They once called John Gotti the “Teflon Don” because cases never stuck to him – BoJo is the real Teflon Don, controversies slide effortlessly off this guy’s back
No let’s keep him in as long as possible. Draw out the death of his career as a lame duck with no respect. See him become a husk of a man. Watch the Tories eat themselves. We deserve that at least.
Of course he’ll be PM by the end of the week, he only resigns with agreement from his party and that takes a lot longer than a week + the theatre of a Tory leadership contest.
Can’t see Johnson resigning. If the report is bad for him he’ll just continue lie his way out of it.
Then it’s up to Tory MPs to get enough signatures to trigger a no-confidence vote. But he’d fight that and there’s every chance he’ll win.
Think people should be wary of expectations management efforts by No10. It’s in their interests to pump it up over the next few days and then when it turns out there’s no smoking gun they’ll claim total victory.
Source….Dave down the Pub.
That teflon coated cunt is not going anywhere as long as there’s people to throw under the bus…or bribe…or blackmail.
Anyone else think this could be a case of “be careful what you wish for”?
Most of Reddit is anti-Tory, or at least pretends to be, so I’m sure we all agree the bumbling buffoon standing down as PM is a good thing, but to what end?
Liz Truss is in the running, a woman who literally models herself on Thatcher. Is that really any better?
I will be shocked if he doesn’t face a no confidence vote as Tory leader this week (or early next). I wouldn’t be surprised if he survives that though.
Can we dust of the term “Sub-Prime” from the drawer it was placed in after the financial crash stopped being reported. I feel Sub-Prime Minister is a much more accurate title for BSJohnson.
There was a chance to get rid of Boris the Liar in 2019 and the Tory Party chose to keep him. There is no reason for the Tories to get rid of Boris the Liar. They are all the same. They know we all know they are all the same and so keeping Boris where he is has become the only possibility. That or all resigning.
I want Boris still in power, I feel it increases the chance of a Labour victory in a GE. But maybe that’s unwise.
If Johnson can dismiss a report which found a culture bullying at the heart of his cabinet in Pritti Patel and not sack her, he can do the same regarding himself.
Don’t forget, the immediate ultimate arbiter of the primeminister’s behavior is… the primeminister.
And yes, the system is quite clearly broken and open to corruption. It’s sadly taken a truly corrupt, conscienceless man in charge to demonstrate it.
