I’m surprised by how many public entities (communes, etc.) are in the list. Unsurprisingly there are not that many individuals (which hold significant parts of already built stuff)
Sharpen the pitchforks!
The fact that a religious group is one of them…that’s just wrong IMO
This is fundamentally very lackluster reporting. The article implies that all of these are speculating on price appreciation which is not the case. Some of this is historical and should probably be addressed (e.g Arcelor and their industrial lands which are often polluted but no longer used for production). The church, red cross inheriting land for over a 100 years, but they use it again in practice to build their infrastructure on it (hospitals, crèches etc). Fonds du Logement/ Fonds Kirchberg are entities created to develop land (Kirchberg to develop the Kirchberg in 67, Fonds du Logement du build affordable housing etc). Also the communes often own land which they buy when they change PAG or when there is another opportunity. This land again is not used to speculate on prices, but these plots are used for the communal infrastructure. The last buys my commune did were used for an extension on the school and build the Maison Relais. Especially there large communes like Lux City own a lot of land as a reserve in good spots for future infrastructure projects.
And? Who really cares lol
So, how can I get friends with Individual 4?
I would honestly be more interested in which groups/individuals hold the astounding number of run down houses that stand empty for years until a bunch can all be bought up next to each other and torn down for a block of apartments.
Luxembourg already has the fastest growing population in Europe (by far).
Housing is overpriced, but I don’t think that building more is a solution. More houses, lower housing prices, more newcomers, more offices, higher housing prices. Similarly, you cannot ease traffic by building more roads. What’s the point of the whole thing? Luxembourg will grow until it become so crowded, congested and overpriced that it loses all of its attractiveness. This is already happening, and maybe it’s inevitable (think about London, NY etc.).
Housing, Food and Healthcare should be free. If those 3 are met a fella can make conscious decisions about whatever the fuck he wants to do. He will be happier and he will not, for sure hit his wife and kids that often. He will be nicer to coleagues and he will definitely be that dude we love because he chosed to do whatever he wanted. House he had, food he had, healthy awesome body he had. All rest can be absorved by the claws of capitalism and the free market!
