They just announced another billion and a half in funding, split about equally between SNCB and Infrabel. I also don’t think closing ticket counters is a good measure of rail disinvestment. Between the app and ticket machines, the website and subscriptions, at some point paying someone to sit and stair and the walls all day for the convenience of just a few passengers is diverting funding from the rest of the service. Sorry if I sound like a heartless bastard for saying that, but someone’s job isn’t worth an inefficient allocation of funds. Better to train (pun) them to do something else at least.
I am a huge huge booster of public transit, and generally agree with this article but that point kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
