Prince Harry & Meghan’s Nigeria “royal tour” is just another way to push “Brand Sussex”, expert says

Harry’s heart has always said that a very considerable part of it was in Africa we know that he and Megan chose their trip in 2019 to South Africa it was most successful until they not only launched proceedings against a newspaper there but also made clear in memorable interviews that they were far from happy as senior working Royals and we know subsequently that to the sandream agreement and them stepping back and then stepping down and not as they would wish or sort of half in half out which simply wasn’t practical it certainly wouldn’t have been however there is no question that the strip to Nigeria is particularly important for them their brand is and its value will be on show a Royal tour and they’re members of the Royal Family is always a matter of very very considerable interest now it just so happens that very very sadly both King Charles and the Princess of Wales are seriously ill they can’t under take Royal tours and indeed we’re looking at speculation as to whether King Charles will be attending the Govern with heads of government in s in October will he and queen Camila will they be able to tour Australia and New Zealand afterwards this is again a matter of speculation it’s a nightmare for planners however so far as assesses are concerned Nigeria is a commonwealth country as was Jamaica where where they were quite recently there is no question that there’ll be enormous interest in this visit because firstly Nigeria joined the evictor games in 2023 Megan quite recently discovered she was 43% Nigerian and in the the Games Team Nigeria I gave her the nickname Amir goo Amir means warrior princess is blessed Ando is Royal wife so expect the sues to maximize every single aspect of this trip they might release extra photographs of themselves I mean along the lines of what they did in Harry and Megan that Netflix documentary but then they rubbished the com there not them personally but they had Talking Heads who did and if they were to make favorable reference to the Commonwealth in a public forum and we don’t know their shed but nonetheless it’s bound to include talks and speeches and so forth uh this would be very much appreciated I’m sure however after the problems of the last couple of days I would think that that was perhaps unlikely uh they undoubtedly cultural event links with Invictus I mean these we know will feature on the tour we also know that probably the will reportedly the security will be paid for by the Nigerian government we just have to see how the tour develops and there’s no doubt it will be a fascinating insight into the to Brian Sussex because it hasn’t thrived exactly they’ve survived but they lost Spotify there’s been one mock even rumors there might be another one we certainly haven’t details of anything to do with that that have been confirmed and of course there’s Netflix where Harry is helming a series on Polar he may find it rather elitist for a mass audience and we know Megan’s has this coery and entertaining and so forth program for Netflix and of course she’s got America Rivier Orchard and uh sent out pots of jam and didn’t have many alist responses but nonetheless they are now doing more what they see Nigeria as a very interesting test case as a sort of you could say pseudo Royal tour and it will be very interesting to see how they are received how the tour is perceived to go and whether they plan other tours on the back of it I mean there is no such thing so speak is a fake Royal tour in the sense that they are members of the royal family and they are on tour what does is however is an un presidenting situation where you have them you could say in a sense that on the one hand there are those who believe they’ve gone Rogue and then we just had this rather extraordinary episode where the rift with the royal family has been exposed for all to see and on the other hand you have the back that Megan didn’t appear with harriets and Pauls and I always s thought those T was a sort of cover for the fact that you know this will obviously she’s the Press is hostile the people we know in Britain uh Megan terrible po ratings so she knows this and so she stayed away but equally this will give undoubtedly this will give her a boost and it will undoubtly give their brand a boost because they will get an enormous amount of publicity it’s worthwhile also mentioning that Harry is on the board of African parks and there have been serious allegations about um this organization uh he’s so far to my knowledge after an initial statement a while ago chosen to remain silent and not either done anything about it publicly or step down from the B I would say in in the South African Tour because Africa has always been close to Harry’s heart and Megan seemed to have an affinity with it there’s no question that she spoke very memorably as a person of color and your sister these speeches or speeches of that sort I think we can expect quite a few uh in the coming days there absolutely no doubt that it will be covered by wall to wall by a huge number of press now that will be an interesting test of the strength of of the brand Sussex and perhaps there will be indications as to other activities that they plan for the future certainly I would expect more tours I think that for most commentators the fact that King Charles and Harry didn’t meet was a surprise there’s no question that when Harry’s spokesperson put out the fact that uh apparently the king couldn’t find time in his busy diary uh that was surprising because they had met when the king’s cancer diagnosis was announced in February and it had been a brief meeting we don’t know how it went uh we know how he came over immediately and it was expected that though it because of the deep Rift in the royal family obviously Harry and and William were not going to meet that was I think something that was pretty well set in stone but there was the thought especially since they would be so close to each other during part of it uh that when Harry was here um he and King Charles would would meet as it has turned out they didn’t and there’s no doubt that that was perceived as a snob there’s absolutely no doubt as well that fact that uh it was announced that William would be C in Chief of the Army Air Corp which Harry served in in Afghanistan and that that will take place on Monday he’ll succeed his father um that underlines the fact that the royal family and the sussexes for the time being have very little it would seem in common I mean it’s all very unfortunate it’s the world’s most high-profile royal family having a rift that is painfully public and I think one of the reasons for this and it’s pretty clear the fact that he went on Good Morning America and made comments about the way that illness can unify families words to that effect uh very probably did not endear himself to the king there’s no doubt that the royal family don’t trust the cicus the reasons why are obvious equally it would have been a step forward one always regards illness as a possible Game Changer serious illness particularly so it’s all very sad it’s all very extraordinary and it’s all playing out in the most public Limelight possible uh quite quite amazing really and also at some pulse I mean to see El Spencer and his sister supporting Harry I mean that will bring back Echoes the royal family of a very different event um princess funeral of course a long time ago but nonetheless something that symbolically was obviously important I mean invictor is a superb institution and no one disputes that and initially Harry started with great support from the royal family it’s a sad business now
