  1. Cant put a price on a united ireland for me, its worth the cost, we waste and spend so much money on shite already, i pay higher taxes for a bailout i had zero input in, id happily pay higher taxes for a united ireland tbh.

  2. Only 4 or 5 counties out of the 26 would be net contributers to that 68bn. The rest would have more subsidized from the govt than they’d give back. Should we just give the rest of them to the Brits too so?

What is this statement even trying to claim? Ireland raised 68 billion last year yes, but spent 76 billion and ran an 8 billion loss. We don’t have 68 billion just lying around waiting to subvent NI.

  4. Can you explain the link between our tax take and NI’s subvention from London? I don’t see what point you or McWilliams is trying to make here.

  5. The subvention is actually in real terms 2-3 Billion. The above figure is just an accounting thing to include share of nuclear weapons, army etc.

Then you also have to take into account that Ireland would probably receive a dowry from the UK for 10-20 years, definitely receive more EU funding and likely see a big influx of American investment.

  6. I live for the day. Jesus the excitement in the country would be insane.

And just imagine the sesh, it would be the mother of all seshes.

  7. UI is ideal and inevitable, but I think the calls for immediate border poll are misguided bordering on dangerous. We’ve 100 years of partition to overcome, a successful unity will take many little wins and a lot of small steps until you find the border disappears all on its own.

  8. We live in a democracy, a United Ireland will happen when people want it to happen
We also need to make sure that a United Ireland is for everyone and not single out a part of the community and just ignore them.
