Should there be a discussion of whether Israel should have participated this year? Absolutely, it is a questionable decision with the whole Gaza conflict going on. But should it be excluded entirely only based off on its geographical location? No! Cyprus is almost equally far away and no one says that they shouldn‘t participate.
I like how this sub’s counter to this is that “israel is part of the EBU that is why they participate!!!, North Africa can join too”.
As if they won’t have a chernobyl-scale nuclear meltdown if North African states decide to join the contest as well.
I can already see the “ironic” great replacement “memes”.
