It’s not a vase, it’s a jewellery box. This piece is one of a series made exclusively for ZDF, and shows the main HQ and studios in Mainz. It was made by Höchster Porzellanmanufaktur in Höchst, which is a constituent part of the city of Frankfurt. The leaflet gives a brief history of both companies.
Presumably this was presented to your grandfather on his retirement. This must have been between 1984 (the most recent date given in the leaflet) and 1990 (when 4-digit postal codes were replaced by 5-digit postal codes).
Whether it’s worth anything I can’t say, but it appears to be in its original box so I would imagine it’s not totally worthless. I expect, though, that its sentimental value might outweigh any monetary value it may have.
