On the ground: Police clear pro-Palestinian protesters from Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall

hundreds of Riot police marched up Amsterdam Avenue to Columbia University’s campus holding batter and hog ties they then brought in a huge truck with a kind of drawbridge on it a Siege truck uh which is known as a bear cat apparently check out the freaking drawbridge it’s a Siege wagon with a draw bridge and they entered into one of the windows of Hamilton Hall to go and arrest protest who had occupied that building sh on shame on you shame on you shame on you I witnessed uh more police than I’ve ever seen around the campus um there was a protest outside of the gates to support the student protesters inside the campus um most students were barred from entering the campus today including myself and um there was some police brutality that I witnessed over there by the gates with arrest um students being shoved and grabbed by police officers cops came in and ordered everybody to disperse and then they put up these barricades right outside these Gates and then all of these other cops came from all directions it was drying but not surprising they tend to always I feel like bring out um these large you know the trucks the people the the weapons the tactics to scare people and to get people to disperse it’s great to see that people are still out here and I know that the students are standing strong they started um shoving us pushing us into the gates um arresting students forcefully um as they do I think it’s our job and we’ve realized that now as privileged students as people who come from a comfy life to not just stand here and watch I I think it’s really important to keep tabs on everything they do because the the police is they’re really coming full force and cannot back down and I I don’t think we will I have I have a lot of Hope in the students the NYPD seem to be slowly leaving the scene here at Colombia University some protesters remain chanting in solidarity with those who’ve been arrested

Police officers carrying zip ties and riot shields stormed a Columbia University building being occupied by pro-Palestinian protesters, streaming in through a window late Tuesday and arresting dozens of people. The protesters had seized the administration building, known as Hamilton Hall, more than 20 hours earlier in a major escalation as demonstrations against the Israel-Hamas war spread on college campuses nationwide. FRANCE 24’s Jessica Le Masurier reports from New York.

  1. most weren't even students, just outside provocateurs hoping the university is too cowardly to do anything

  2. if france24 do not condemn this blatant violation against free speech and human rights, they have no right criticize russia and china. the so called pro democracy in both country acted far dangerous and more chaotic than this
