*The Tories have long officially pursued an 80:20 election strategy, focused on defending their 80 most marginal seats and aiming to win 20 target seats from the opposition.*
*But the number of Tory constituencies marked as vulnerable and given extra support has risen from 80 to about 200 in recent months, according to a senior party source. It means the party is extending its defensive strategy to seats with hefty majorities of 15,000 or more.*
*At a briefing with Conservative MPs last year, the US pollster Frank Luntz warned that those with a majority of less than 15,000 were at risk of losing their seats. About 180 Tory MPs have majorities below that threshold.*
*Cabinet ministers with majorities of 15,000 or less include the justice secretary, Alex Chalk, the chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, the Commons leader, Penny Mordaunt, and the defence secretary, Grant Shapps.*
*The Conservatives suffered heavy losses at the local elections in England earlier in May. The party lost 515 councillors, ceded control of 10 councils and was defeated in the West Midlands and the York and North Yorkshire mayoral contests.*
*Since the 2019 election, the Conservatives’ majority has been reduced from 80 to just 38 after a series of defections and byelections.*
If they are lucky they loose 200 seats. With Reform UK and the Lib Dem’s on either side, they could lose far more…
Popcorn and pizza at the ready…
Does this mean that we can work out which seats they consider are safe?
I’m guessing it would be around 100?
Vulnerable because they have left town after town, city after city, to rot and wither away in darkness whilst they focus on their own luxuries, creating labour as a ‘boogeyman’ because they pursued a multicultural state and bailed out the banks whilst at the same time they have done the exact same; draping their policies in the union flag and lying to the electorate about how only ‘they’ can save our nation from ruin, how it is the fault of Europe or the ‘Woke left’ that our country continues to steam full sail into oblivion.
Yet, they will not change course, this apple is rotten to the core and they will continue to destroy one of histories greatest nations in the pursuit of quick quids and temporary power, romanticising the Empire of days gone whilst forgoing the very real chance of a future any of us or my future children will have.
They milk us dry, pollute our rivers, rob our taxes and treat us like serfs; great sons of our land died for our freedom and in one act of parliament they feel emboldened enough by our apathy that they just whisk it away; one day they will all pay for their crimes, not with redundancy and a nice consultancy gig in the Caribbean, but with iron chains and the traitors gate.
This comment will be no doubt lost in the ether, but I dedicate it to the forgotten ones… the young lad in Margate who can’t find a good job anywhere but in a warehouse, marked up for not making his pick rates and whose future is uncertain; the single mother in Salford who can’t afford childcare but has her benefits cut because she can’t do the required hours; the labourer in his 50s from Essex whose back is failing him whilst he contemplates life on a state pension; the old man in Nottingham, who can’t leave his house because he’s scared he’ll be mugged; and the little girl in South Yorks, who dreads the school holidays when she can’t get a guaranteed full meal every day.
I dedicate this rant to them, and all of those left forgotten by a corrupt oligarchy that calls itself a government.
I live in what was Nadine’s constituency. One of the safest of safe seats in the nation which is why she got away with so much BS for so long.
We have a Labour MP now…. People are fed the fuck up with the most extreme right wing muppets in generations.
I am old enough to have been there during Thatcher and TBH she was awesome compared to Boris, the lettuce and Richy.
