With Covid and inflation it makes sense
And so much of it they left out.
I actually thought there was another Doctor Strange coming because I forgot about Multiverse of Madness 😭 😭 😭
Who the fuck admits thus dumb shit? Sequels are lazy af. Comparing them is even lazier.
Edit: 🍆🍆🍆🍆
Holy shit, at $414.9 million budget Doctor Strange 2 is not only expensive than Avengers 2, it’s also more expensive than freaking Avatar 2. At $414.9 million it’s only a hair shy of Pirates of the Carribean 4.
And arguably a better movie, too.
Man some shady money moving. Execs buying yachts and home and hookers and blow and calling their work “exec producer”
Reminds me of that scene in Parks and Rec when Chris and Ron have a burger making competition, and Chris spends all this time and money on a fancy ass veggie burger, and Ron winds up winning just by grilling a normal beef patty on a bun.
The difference is that Chris’ burger actually looked good.
This is ridiculous. Most of these movies would still have been profitable hits if they kept spending reasonably low. How will they have enough money for avengers movies if they spend this much on solo movies?
Oof. And the film sucked. I brought my entire family. I was embarrassed by the quality. I was internally groaning at every eyeball—yes Sam, I get it, this is a Sam Raimi film. At least the wife and kids got a nice dinner out of it.
Did not expect that at all
Then they are making movies wrong…
I’m fairly certain that post-Endgame but pre Covid they were expecting every movie to make around a billion.
That backfired with the pandemic. Though even if that weren’t the case I think Covid restrictions likely raised the costs as well.
Damn and it was still shit?
It was a better movie with a better director.
Between Covid, inflation, and the fact that I think this is about the time Fiege was no longer able to micromanage each film, makes sense.
