Brewdog chief James Watt accused of inappropriate behaviour

  1. I think most of us, at some point, have encountered a manager like this. The behaviour he is accused of isn’t all that remarkable which (far from being a defence of his actions) is more an indictment of how managerial power and impunity can lead to a toxic workplace culture.

  2. Brewdog are fucking shit.

My wife won a competition with them last year; free beer for a year. Basically, they were launching a subscription club and she won a year’s subscription. From May until this month, she’s had to pester them to get the box, because until now they’ve refused to just register an account for her. If she hadn’t said anything they wouldn’t have sent her a scrap.

And to be honest, the prize is really underwhelming. Eight 330ml cans, four types, times two. And it’s normally the better part of £25 a month. Oh, and the better beers in the box are almost always from the “guest” brewers.

    Fuck Brewdog.

  3. Let me guess – Middle/Upper middle class boy, coddled all his life about how special he is, started his business with a “small loan” from parents/investments by close friends, became successful probably through his networking, made a lot of money for himself, believes wholeheartedly his brand of beer is the best brand that ever existed and ever will exist = Cant understand how every single woman on the planet is not throwing themselves at him??

  4. Just gonna throw out the fact that Thornbridge’s Jaipur was created before punk IPA with an identical recipe. Support better brewers.

Edit: Jaipur, is and forever will be superior to anything BD make.

  5. I don’t know how so many people can like Brewdog. They market themselves as a lovely company but you can just *feel* that the whole thing is off. They’re so fishy and have some really nasty business tactics.

  6. BrewDog are an awful company, but this story seems to boil down to “He is a bit stare-y and likes to try and show off to girls in their early twenties”

He’s a creep, but I’m not sure that justifies an entire BBC News story

  7. I never really liked any of their beers but then I don’t like a lot of these types of beers, more for the people that do I suppose.

Their business always struck me as a wanky one though, all this talk of ‘punks’ etc when clearly it was run by a couple of biz bros. They’re not punks, they’re a business.
