Sorry, I am not long in Germany but could use some advice. My landlord placed three restmull bins in the hallway directly next to my apartment door. The odor of trash is coming in my apartment. The door is directly next to my kitchen. We are not allowed to place the bins outside. The landlord can not build a place to put them outside. Apparently the city will not let him, because the apartment building sits beside a busy main street.
Is there anything I can do about the smell? I considered trying to seal the door, but the door sits fairly crooked. The door also opens to the outside instead of inside.

One idea on this to tackle this problem from another angle: Are those bins in the hallway that is used to exit the building or are they in a part of the hallway that’s not used by anyone? If it’s part of the used hallway it might a problem as it’s a potential fire hazard and could increase the fire load. What’s the width of the hallway where the bins are, is the width smaller because of those bins? But now, don’t ask me if there can be exceptions to this rule (potential fire hazard, fire load).
Unfortunately the above is probably no short-term solution for you, so other advice welcome.

Is that some new species of mole?
