Ukraine’s military chief has said its forces are doing all they can to hold the line in Kharkiv, but they are facing a ‘difficult situation’ after Russia’s surprise assault on the Kharkiv region began on Friday.

Sky News’ security and defence editor Deborah Haynes has been reporting from the village of Ruski Tyshky, where residents are having to evacuate once again, as Russian troops advance.

  1. So the fault is with the western and delays of ammunitions. Yeah always other people fault. What about mining the camps in the grey area? Or trenches. What about not recruiting in time new troops to defend such a large boarder? The one are fighting has given it all. Honor to them.

  3. From WWII, the soviet showed that quantity > quality for long and large scale wars. Why the west never learn? With energy trading, Russia can buy any needed components, chips, machinery, drones, vehicles from China, at unlimited quantity. If Ukraine destroy 10, China will send 100. In fact, the ammunition Russia consumed in the front is less than what they produced. No any chance for the Ukrainians. Sad, but true.

  14. It looks like a mandatory phrase that the propaganda imposes: "quantity (Russia) vs quality (Ukraine/NATO). They repeat this in every interview since 2022… I remember a football match when the commentators from one country said, repeatedly, that the other side is "just more physically bigger, but we are technically and tactically superior. The game ended 4-1 in favor of "less technical" side, which by the way produced spectacular football in their way to victory.
