“Germany bears a special responsibility for European security”: Ukrainian Jews appeal to Chancellor Olaf Scholz

  1. No country bears a responsibility for security of the whole continent unless it’s in their interests. Certainly not based on morality standpoint from the war that ended almost 80 years ago.

  2. They have a point. It is absurd for Germany to point to their past militarism as an excuse not to arm Ukraine when Ukrainians were some of the main victims of that past German militarism.

  3. I think I found the perfect scheme for Germany to support Ukraine:

We pay a hundred million Euros to the Chief Rabbi of Kiev for Holocaust related stuff and he orders the anti-tank missiles and drones from Israel. Their shit probably works better anyways. And as a Rabbi he might get a discount from IMI.

  4. Yesterday it was “Germany is building the 4th Reich via the EU”, now it is “Germany is responsible for European security”. So what is it…

  5. Every European nation that claims to care about democracy and human rights should support Ukraine

  6. Which may be exactly why they aren’t also willing to add into this arms race, which is only escalating things further.

There’s more factors than just Russian gas.

  7. Germany is very aware of their historical responsibility, especially when it comes to avoiding wars like the ones our country started. That is exactly what we’re trying to do at the moment.

  8. It is a dilemma in Germany. Germany still has a sense of original guilt against Russia, and there are still statues for Soviet troops who raped German women.
