    He is known, but not to the extent that everyone automatically knows who he is. It had been said that he was known in China before he was known in his home town.

  2. Yes, he is well known and quite popular in literary circles. Everyone has read some of his poems in school. We usually refer to him by his full name, which is Olav H. Hauge.
