Russia has blamed Ukraine for an air strike on an apartment Block in the Border City of belgorod killing at least eight people and injuring 20 others Europe correspondent Katherine D joins us now from London Katherine good morning what do we know about this missile attack good morning Lisa we look information is still flowing in as to how this happened and who is responsible but what we do know is that 10 stories of an aparent complex in the Russian Border City of belgrod have collapsed after being hit by missiles or fragments of missiles the Kremlin has blamed Ukraine K is yet to respond but we’re seeing pictures flow through now of rubble everywhere of Rescuers moving debris with their hands and one man being pulled out of the collapsed building still alive and being dealt with by paramedics we understand that at least eight people have been killed and about 20 others have been injured but Lisa this is just another example of civilians being caught in the crossfire of this war and tell us more about Russia’s latest offensive yeah on Friday Uh Russian troops started attacking the northeast of Ukraine and this is significant because most of this war has been waged in the South and the East Moscow is again trying to capture Ukraine’s second largest city of hak it tried to do this at the very beginning of its invasion in 2022 but failed it’s now started heavy shelling of the city of vchan which is around 75 kilomet from hak Ukrainian troops are now evacuating the town of around 18,000 people let’s take a listen to one of the evacuates it was horrible we got through a terrible shelling everything was exploding everything was flying we did not understand Ukrainian troops have so far managed to hold off the Russian advances but troops now surround that uh town of vchan and Russia’s latest offensive is a sign of its growing confidence particularly in light of that delayed shipment of military aid from the United States but troops on the ground there from Ukraine side are certainly hoping more Firepower arve soon Katherine thanks for the details e
