  1. Oh good, another opportunity to see people wearing face masks around their chin.

  2. PSA: surgical masks are hopeless at preventing airborne illnesses – N95s work great, are reusable and generally far more comfortable. The 3M Aura’s often considered the most universal across face shapes.

  3. I feel like half the reason we’re where we are now with illness are down to the COVID response. I’m not going to go into whether the lockdown response etc was wrong or whatnot but it certainly seems to have had an effect on illnesses since that period of time.

Many people will now grab a facemask for any illness going around these days, people are afraid of getting ill at all but as far as I was aware the body needs to be exposed to some illnesses to build immunity.

  4. All the people in the thread claiming surgical masks don’t do anything look like illiterate and uneducated serfs.

These are designed to prevent the spread of droplet infections, and guess what spreads droplets? Coughing and sneezing.

Get rid of these people rallying against science, there’s a reason why medical professionals wear them in the theatre.

  5. I currently have it, and it’s awful. I have never cough so much in my life. I’m on two different types of inhalers, my chest hurts 24/7. I’ve never been on inhalers before, the worst part is I feel awful all the time, but I just have to carry on as I can’t be off sick for 100 days. I wouldn’t wish this cough on anyone, I know it sounds silly. But please wash your hands after being our in public, and don’t stick your fingers in your mouth, nose or ears without cleaning them first.

  6. I got whooping cough when I was like 10 and my friends still have a go at me for catching a victorian disease. It was really horrible though, I remember not being able to catch a breath at all for ages and I would just start choking sometimes.

  7. Whooping cough vaccination uptake is terrible. I saw that in some parts of north London it’s 25%

  8. There’s a vaccine for pertussis. Wear a mask, get the vaccine.

  9. The Tories have set this country back 100 years.

    They must NEVER govern again.

  10. We need to educate people, children and adults alike, on how bad these diseases are and why it is a good thing we now have vaccines against them. There is a very good reason to be vaccinated against such illnesses, a reason people have forgot (or never knew) because of how successful vaccination campaigns have been.

  11. What?! Who is actually getting to actually see a GP?!?!

  12. Unfortunately, idiots made masking vs not masking a political signal so this simply wont happen.
