This always seems to be levied at the players and teams in this group at each season end now
Fact is there is nothing to play for other than a million or two per position you place higher in the table. That million or two is unlikely to bear any financial bonuses for the players, and most of them aren’t heading for any individual awards either.
Considering the ridiculous amount of games that are played nowadays and (usually) a lack of resource amongst mid table teams to field more than a first 11 and reasonable bench, of course once they have nothing to play for they’re going to take their foot off the gas

I dunno, we seemed to put in a bit of effort against Arsenal. Well, apart from Casemiro that is.
Everyone’s on the beach at the end of the season.
It’s why stats, goals and assists should always be taken with a pinch of salt (Palace and Chelsea runs for example).
Football is much harder at the start of the season.
