  1. Within a month would be very nice… vice sometime in the summer/fall/future (all undefined)

  2. I feel like F16 has been ready within a month for six months.

  3. Too hasty. Better think and confirm a bit more. In one year’s time maybe could be safe. Let’s decide then, and ensure all procedures have been met.

  4. It can be true: they didnt wrote anything about pilots 😉

  5. We all know the F-16s aren’t a silver bullet. We know the F-16s require both pilots that have been trained in the west but also the crews and maintenance teams and resources in place to support them.

This takes time to get right and hopefully will be in place soon. There’s a battle rhythm and a new aircraft will require the development of both pre battle preparation and planning for actual combat sorties.

More than likely these fighters will be useful in deterrence of Russian air operations more than CAS for front line

  6. Maybe NATO countries will send their men in when they have F16’s above them.

  7. Hopefully next month means early surprises next week 😉

  8. Seems like a race against time with so much stuff- Czech munitions, US aid, F-16s. Man, the west just sat on its hands for so long, and now we’re paying a price with this desperate scramble for survival.

  9. Availability is probably not a question of airframe and other supplies such as armaments needing preparations to become available. It is likely the training of pilots and maintenance crews to sufficient standards that takes time. There is no point handing over the airplanes if the pilots are not good enough. And these would work in coordination with other relevant capabilities that might need to be up to standards.

What I do not get is why the former f16 countries in Europe does not recruit women from the Ukrainian diaspora at local wages. The women are more likely to have higher education and better English language capabilities. If they run a full training cadre and enroll one new class every year the next five years Ukraine will have a highly skilled air force without draining existing capabilities. They could do the same for maintenance crews.

This solution is not about this year or the next but the long term and unlike many other schemes it does not weaken Ukraine while building the capability.

  10. Will they have underground/concrete/reinforced hangars? I can imagine Russia will try everything possible to target them when on the ground
