Hello there, just move in a new apartment, does anyone knows how to convert this to the newer version of lighting? The building I’m currently living is an old one so the electrilcal thingy are something new to me at least. Im having trouble attaching my lights though. Thanks

  1. You can connect this plug to it if you have it (https://www.biltema.fi/rakentaminen/sahkoasennustarvikkeet/valaisimen-pistotulpat/valaisinpistorasia-maadoittamaton-2000020985), otherwise just connect the lamp directly to it.

If lamp (or plug) has 2 wires (brown and blue), it doesn’t matter how you connect it. If there are 3 wires (brown and blue and yellow/green) connect brown and blue wires. yellow/green is ground wire

Make sure to turn off electricity in the fuse box before connecting it. Test it with an electricity tester (for example this screwdriver with a light). Test that the light in the screwdriver goes on in before turning electricity off, otherwise you don’t know if the tester worked

Edit: By the way, it doesn’t matter how those too are connect. Even though those cables are painted for whatever reason (???) it’s okay you can’t see the color. Same way as it doesn’t matter which way you put wall plugs in the wall

  2. In addition to the comment below where they tell you to stick the wires directly into the new wire mounts. [You can only do that into the new wire mounts if the wires are solid, if they are braided wires you need a solid wire extensions from the current mount to the new type mount.]
    Not necessary but good practice:

Do you have a phase tester screwdriver? Don’t touch the wires but turn the power on, and test which of the two contacts is the phase and which neutral. Turn the power off. Mark the wires somehow with a marker or smth (Typically blue for neutral, black/brown for phase) Stick the Phase wire so it connects to the the light sockets inner contact, and the neutral so it connects to the socket neck.

Not all are wired that way when you will be testing around, but its the safer version to wire light sockets.
