Small, well-built Chinese EV called the Seagull poses a big threat to the US auto industry. “sells for around $12,000 in China, but drives well and is put together with craftsmanship that rivals U.S.-made electric vehicles that cost three times as much.”

  1. China has these $3000 cars in China that cost 12k in the US.

This is an example of how barriers to trade make everyone poorer.

1: the us consumers pay more for EV.
2: the US had people working in an industry that should not exist. We have a labor shortage in construction health care food production etc.
3: China has a smaller EV industry than it should. Lost opportunity for lots of people.

Free trade makes everyone richer and barriers sanctions make everyone poorer.

  2. Did he say it wasn’t amalgamated? When I look that up it means a car that uses significant parts from another to make a highly modified one. How is that used here, in particular, as far as becoming legal in US?

  3. America loves squashing competition almost as much as it loves talking about the virtues of free market competition
