Esports prize money won by European countries

  1. Update to the maps I posted in [2019](https://old.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/cxtz91/esports_prize_money_won_by_european_countries/) and [2018](https://old.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/9v2xxp/esports_prize_money_won_by_european_countries/). I didn’t update this last year, because several LAN tournaments were cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic.

Note: This data only includes prize money from tournaments. In some games, most of the earnings come from salary, sponsors etc. (which often isn’t public information) so the data is a bit biased towards games with a lot of prize money in them.

  2. Benefit of cold weather in the north is they end up indoors 24/7 so get way more playtime than everyone else who actually have a life /s

  3. damn dota and lol bumped the numbers.

/edit; Fortnite and some mobile games have big prize tournaments? Oo

so much changed since the last time i was following esports

  4. I can’t see the word “esports” without imagining my grandma saying “sports” in her Argentine accent.

  5. It would be interesting to see how the winnings are distributed. I can imagine that it’s very skewed for Denmark and Finland as opposed to Sweden due to Dota 2. 5 swedes won TI3 which had an incredible low prize pool compared to later TIs.

It would also be interesting to see distribution by game for each country as well.
