So could losing the weight properly without any kind of drug
Edit: Literally from the BBC article
“After 20 weeks of being on semaglutide, 62% of patients had lost more than 5% of their bodyweight compared with 10% in a placebo group.
However, the risk reduction of heart attacks, stroke or heart failure was similar in patients who lost more than 5% of their bodyweight and in those who lost less than 5%, or gained weight.”
Are we turning into America?
Have people seen those who’ve taken Ozempic, they look like crack addicts.
Semaglutide class drugs won’t remain expensive forever. There are enough obese people in South Asia to get the Indian pharma industry (which doesn’t give two fucks about drug IPR) onto it
Sooner or later they’ll go generic. Maybe not for a decade but it happened with every other drug initially priced high, if there was market demand.
Also seems to turn seemingly normal slightly overweight people into ghouls
*losing weight could reduce heart attack risk by 20%* is the far more accurate headline
From the newspaper that reported 99% effective, comes the obesity drug that reduces heart attacks!
Every day we move closer to Black Mirror. Don’t worry about living a balanced, active, healthy lifestyle with all the benefits that come with it, both physical and mental. Just do whatever the hell you want and get that jab from the NHS instead.
People need to start taking responsibility for themselves and their choices. This is coming from a guy who is trying and struggling to break the cycle I slip into every year of comfort eating my way through seasonal depression and putting on 2 stone over Winter and then having to work my ass off to lose it all to look half decent for summer.
It feels good to take responsibility and make choices that you know are good for yourself. Is that not enough?
100% guarantee there will be some serious bad effects that haven’t been discovered yet.
I hope these drugs help people to live longer, happier and healthier lives. I can never be against that.
