  1. What is the best case REALISTIC scenario for Ukraine now? Because it’s really hard to imagine they can win back all of the territory Russia has taken at this rate

  2. Of course russia is gaining some territories: it has launched the counter offensive a month ago and this is how a war of attrition works.

  3. I am confident Ukraine will push them back once they receive the new weapon deliveries that were recently voted by the US.

  4. Europe once again proves itself to be sick man incapable of standing up to Russian aggression

  5. So what are we going to do about it? Will we cut our losses and run, and start accommodating ourselves to be Putin and Xi’s future pet dogs, or will we finally buckle up and end this damn shitshow for good?

  6. A lot of this is down to the west being slow on assistance, but one of the main issues is that Ukraine should’ve started a comprehensive mobilisation effort last year but didn’t, and now they’re lacking in manpower.

Might get some flak for this but Zelensky didn’t use his political capital to push through an unpopular mobilisation law when he could have, just as he didn’t mobilise the army until the day before the invasion even though he was being warned for months. He’s a brilliant churchillian presence that’s helped morale, but he’s made two or three really bad decisions imo

  7. It looks like they are about 350 miles from Kyiv with only one major town about half way. A flying column with aggressive air support could put them in control of Kyiv in ten days, a breakout now ends this in June. They are racing he American aid which obviously was a lot less ready to go (or perhaps just a lot less ready to be recieved) than we were told. Also russia has a massive troop advantage possibly as much as ten to one.

Ukraine has poured so much exaggeration into their PR (just look at /ukraine here etc) that the West never understood how close they are to collapse.

I suspect most of the American aid will now be withheld because the russians will just capture everything in Ukraine by the end of June or July. Unless there is a big secret counter offensive within days the UA war is on the verge of becoming the rout russain originally foresaw.

I really hope I am wrong, but this a war between Zelensky and putin and Zelensky doesn’t seem like he can lead forward into victory without massive European intervention in the next few weeks or less…

  8. With the new recent appointments Putin made, it seems like Russia is trying to tidy up their military industrial complex for the eventual war with NATO. It feels like Stalin vs Hitler all over again except this time Putin will attack first.

  9. The fact that Ukraine could see the build up happening in Kharkiv but the idiotic rules the west placed on Ukraine with weapons means they couldn’t strike the amassing forces is utterly stupid and ridiculous.

Mix that in with the reporting that the Germans fucking blew a gasket because Ukraine secretly moved Patriots up to the front and shot down Russian fighter bombers that were launching glide bombs into Ukraine from Russia over Russia is again the symbolizing thing that the West cares more about the appearance of not being involved than helping Ukraine actually win and defend itself.

Russia and Ukraine are taking this war seriously, the fucking West is not. We are routinely tying a hand behind our back every fucking turn.

  10. It’s almost as if a war of attrition always favoured Russia and the propaganda of the Ukrainian superman has done more harm than good.

The world needs to wakeup to just how difficult this conflict really is. There is no panacea. US weapons without full mobilisation can only do so much and Ukraine very well might have to accept a brutal peace if it wants any kind of future.
