Trump puts his corruption on full display, and yet his supporters *still* fall for the idea that he’s going to “drain the swamp”.
>It was reported that Trump said steering $1bn into his campaign would be a “deal” for the companies because of the costs they would avoid under him. The former president offered in a second term to immediately end the Biden administration’s freeze on permits for new liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, while auctioning off more oil drilling leases in the Gulf of Mexico and reversing drilling restrictions in the Alaskan Arctic, among other promises.
…
Reports of the meeting are especially troubling, Raskin wrote in the letters, in light of revelations in Politico earlier last week that stated the oil industry is writing up “ready-to-sign executive orders” for Trump aimed at increasing gas exports, slashing drilling costs and increasing offshore oil leases.
From Politico:
[‘A little bold and gross’: Oil industry writes executive orders for Trump to sign | The effort stems from the industry’s skepticism that the Trump campaign will be able to focus on energy issues as election day draws closer.](https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/08/oil-industry-orders-trump-day-one-00156705#:~:text=The%20U.S.%20oil%20industry%20is,direct%20knowledge%20of%20the%20work.) >The U.S. oil industry is drawing up ready-to-sign executive orders for Donald Trump aimed at pushing natural gas exports, cutting drilling costs and increasing offshore oil leases in case he wins a second term, according to energy executives with direct knowledge of the work.
>The effort stems from the industry’s skepticism that the Trump campaign will be able to focus on energy issues as Election Day draws closer — and worries that the former president is too distracted to prepare a quick reversal of the Biden administration’s green policies. Oil executives also worry that a second Trump administration won’t attract staff skillful enough to roll back President Joe Biden’s regulations or craft new ones favoring the industry, these people added.
I don’t have nearly enough stock in oil companies apparently.
yet MAGA still hasn’t caught on that this is the stuff that Trump accuses the Bidens of doing
Isn’t this soliciting a bribe?
Sigh. They’ve had years to do this.
Trump demands $1 Billion…AND to keep gas prices high until after the election.
It’s more designed to shut down those donations I think. I doubt big oil wants to sit before corruption committees.
Trump criming again? Say it ain’t so!
I don’t understand why bribes are illegal … /s
Call him out get attention!
I’ve never been more embarrassed to be an American. The shit the Republican party has normalized is truly sickening.
Trump realized how impotent are justice system is in terms of holding those with political power accountable, and now the train has left the station. They never imagined corruption could be this easy.
Every day he goes free will be another day he’ll do something that needs investigating. He’s wasting so much of the public’s time and resources
Looks like the democrats just wanna compare notes on how much the other side gets paid. Both sides of the same coin.
Why bother? Trump does what he wants and nobody stops him. Waste of time at this point.
Quid pro quo
It’s about time that the orange cheeto’s bullshit is looked into immediately for a change.
How about a constitutional amendment that the president cannot pardon himself before the fat bastard has a chance at the office again!
Does the Senate do anything? If I remember correctly, the Dems hold a slight majority there, but I haven’t heard of them having a committee or panel investigating anything in years, just about the House. Sad.
Please vote blue. I don’t wanna die next year.
Can’t wait till we flush the orange turd
Honest question, and I am not a Trump supporter, but I am curious about this circumstance. Does Congress have the authority to investigate the actions of a private citizen, or does him being the republican nominee make all the difference?
Hopping on r/politics is legitimately like stepping through a wormhole, and finding yourself in an alternate reality.
I think Trump wants to go to a US prison so the fucking Russians can’t get to him for failing to delivery on a promise.
If it were profitable to drop nukes, Capitalism don’t care.
If it were profitable to kill this earth, big oil don’t care.
If Republicans benefit from killing our Democracy, they don’t care. Capitalism doesn’t care. Oil doesn’t care.
Here we go again… Another partisan Democrat investigation into Donald Trump. Why can’t they just let him commit crimes in peace… Is that too much to ask?
