Some anti cycling groups are, but lot’s of disability rights groups are quite pro. I wonder how balanced the BBC are going to be here..?
From the video it seems like a mix of dickheads on bikes being dickheads, people (both on bikes and on foot) not knowing how a zebra crossing works, and a surprising amount of people just stepping off the pavement into a cycle lane without looking.
Pretty sure it’s not the lanes fault, tbh
I think personally the floating bus stops are dangerous. Perhaps the cycle lane temporarily ends at a bus stop where cyclists need to wait for the bus to leave before continuing on the lane. That would allow buses to pull in next to the actual pavement.
We should be prioritising pedestrians and bus users over both bikes and cars.
Alternatively you’d need to have a system of fining cyclists who don’t stop for pedestrians.

I mean, those cycle paths might as well be converted into pavement, because none of the pedestrians around there know what a cycle path is.
I’m sorry, but this is so disproportionate. If everyone were more considerate, then this wouldn’t even be a problem. As someone who walks and cycles in London but drives outside of it:
London seems to have a higher number of “selfish cyclists” who ignore road laws or blast full speed into busy areas, assuming pedestrians will actively avoid them. A lot of pedestrians are not paying attention when they should be.
Car/van drivers are impatient and dangerous, and outside of Zone 1, it’s honestly a scary experience to leave a segregated cycle lane. Buses are part of that too, with the constant overtaking and passing a real danger to cyclists.
It’s way safer to have floating stops, but for cyclists and pedestrians to simply be more careful when they arrive at them.
So much of this country’s infrastructure seems to be:
Spend £££ on something “futuristic” > no one really cares > a loud protest group get wind > the whole cycle starts again.
It’s exhausting, especially when there’re so many important things that need fixing and they’re wasting time on crap like *this*.
How about fix the potholes first? Or more buses so we’re not crammed in like sardines? Or affordable dentists?
NFBUK are a fairly questionable organisation. It’s a bit weird that it’s a Yorkshire registered charity but so many of their board members are London based. They also don’t have as many donations, yet seem to be able to get a large amount of press coverage. They also seem to only really talk about cycling.
