‘Cringeworthy’: what people in Dover think of Labour and Keir Starmer

I’m Natalie Alik the labor Member of Parliament for DOA and deal thank you Natalie um it’s fantastic to be in your constituency welcome to the labor party it’s so great to have you on board what are you doing I’m asking people about Natalie Al K oh what saw her defecting when she’s like one of the most right-wing conservatives that’s funny it’s like him he just goes with a flow cuz he was under Corbin and he wanted Corbin to be prime minister so he’s really left wing and then him having his hand R Natalie elic was really cringeworthy I think there’s no disparity there’s no right wi left wing anymore it’s Border Protection becomes an Elite Force and a central Frontline defense that communities like this can depend the true reasons why we have so many people coming acrossing boats because they’ve stopped the proper immigration process so they they have no other option but to risk their lives and there’s a much simpler solution in opening proper immigration channels again what’s happening over in France needs more help with the Smugglers and stuff it’s not it’s not them coming over they’re trying to seek help and it’s a divided opinion but actually I’m welcome them and I know a lot of people are going to hate me for that but I don’t see they’re the problem I see the government is the problem at the moment so the people of Dober are very accepting of of difference and I think they’ve been very accommodating as far as all the people are coming but I think it wouldn’t be too difficult to get people more wound up about the people coming over listen if people want to come here and contribute let them in let as long as they’re not rapists burglars robbers fine let them in of course we Multicultural look at the British Empire we India South Africa so we got a right and we got an obligation to let some people come in I think personally

Keir Starmer appeared in Dover and Deal alongside the Labour party’s newest MP, the former Tory Natalie Elphicke, to announce the scrapping of the Rwanda deportation scheme if Labour is elected. The Guardian spoke to people in Dover to get their reaction

  1. Let’s not forget: Any platform can go out onto the street, meet many people during their quest to find their narrative….. then cherrypick those who fit! It’s not rocket science! It’s not even human nature. It’s ’the way of the left’!

  2. Wow. Dover has just shut me the fk up. I was expecting hard core right wing comments but these people have embarrassed me. Nice one Dover!

  3. We had 1.2 MILLION people come into the U.K. last year take away the just over 500,000 who left and we had a net increase of 672,000 in 2023. Add to that the net increase in 2022 of 742,000 and the few who turn up on the beaches is tiny. What I want to know is why do all the politicians keep those figures quiet?

  4. Elphicke won’t be voted back in, no matter what party she pretends to represent. From right wing to left wing overnight. Could this be the most obvious plant in political history? Srtarmer’s dumb enough to fall for it!

  5. Right wing/left wing polotocos has been dead for over half a century. Read Isaiah Berlin's 2 Modes Of Liberty. (positive and negative liberty)

Tony Blair's "Third Way" was his approach to balancing those 2 modes of liberty.

Perhaps you news sources are part of the problem, still pushing the left/right paradigm when you undeniably know better…

  6. Not any more body. Don't know where you've been hiding. We are now a self-governed country. Now we the people demand a referendum on the ECHR.

  7. The Guardian is such a comic these days. I valued their journalism and news. I now believe they have come under the control of the far left with oudious creatures such as Owen Jones

  8. Couldn't disagree more with last guy, there's such a thing called quality of life, i don't want areas of the country packed resulting in not getting about your day easily

  9. I remember Sir Starmer at Dover Port, he bleated many wild platitudes about numbers and volumes, Zzzzz, Zzzz
Then I had a look at the Port's own website data/volumes and found Starmer had BEEN telling Pork Pies, no surprise.

  10. Seems they don't want to have a massive lead – so are doing everything they can to confuse the voter ? not even sure they want to be in power ? In PMQs they jokingly fight for us and our rights so very little and sometimes look like they back the tories to the point of being tory ? It would not shock me if they fail to win the coming election,,,, We have been divided and not Conquered BUT crushed out of political force/voice

  11. Labour want to build social housing to house the illegal immigrants we have here already on GREEN BELT LAND…..Amnesty and a free house from Blairite New Labour 2.0 – What could be a better advert for breaking into Britain….

  12. As long as they’re not rapists, muggers, burglars, what are the stats on this from other European countries that have had an influx of migrants, that actually share their demographic crime statistics? 📈 wonder what the statistics say? Might just pop a google search on that and oh my go……

  13. The problem is government policy and government cuts. Even starmer offers no real alternative. Britain needs foreign workers. The government cut back on people who process applications making the system slower and no legal ways to enter uk.
