  1. Yeah, that would work if they were able to put a submarine to sea, without being tracked and targeted at all times. Russian ballistic submarines have been a solved problem for 40+ years.

  2. If they want to waste money and resources putting on a show, go for it

  3. Doesn’t that describe like 99% of subs? Isn’t that the whole point?

  4. All subs are hidden!
It’s sort of their raison d’etre

  5. Russian subs are just good on paper like most of their equipment. In reality due to the lag of training, maintenance, overall component quality and corruption the subs are fairly quiet on day one and after some time very loud. Since the 1970s every Soviet/Russian sub capable of conducting nuclear strikes is tracked all the time via SOSUS, satellites, aircraft, NATO subs or ships.

  6. doesn’t look half bad unfortunately when it comes to press.. especially taking into account how the UK’s Trident tests went.
Edit: not to give props to the russians, but if you think they can’t build a rocket, ask the guys on the international space station how they get got there..

  7. Uh, those SLBM specs aren’t much better than what China has today (Julang-3).
