Ukraine CAN beat Russia with these 3 things – Russian heartland blitz, more men & weapons tactic
Russian troops have launched a shock offensive in Hark and and made their fastest advances in months I’m Jerome starky this is World at War and my guest today is General Sir Richard Barons one of Britain’s foremost military mines and a former joint Chief welcome General Barons perhaps we could start with Ukraine what’s happening harv under attack can Ukraine reverse that offensive can Ukraine reverse the tide at the moment Russia seems to have momentum so Ukraine can probably but not definitely hold the Russian attack they’re engaged in a just enough just in time effort and and that depends on the arrival of ammunition from the United States fast enough to get it to the front line to break up the Russian attack if you were General CI if you were the commander of Ukraine’s Armed Forces at the moment what would you be doing now to to win this war so the first thing I would be doing I would be demanding not asking demanding to be able to fire at Russian formations in Russia with the ammunition that has come from the US and Europe because unless I can do that Russian forces can form up at leisure in Russia just 30 miles from places like harv and that and that is an unfair Advantage Britain’s given the impression that they have no objection to their weapons being used against Targets in Russia America has if I’m right so America said you can’t use our weapons Britain has said said you can use ours Ukraine has been hitting targets inside Russia already I mean so so how is that how’s that playing out so Ukraine makes some of its own weapons like drones and the UK has supplied good missiles like Storm Shadow but not very many of them and the issue here is the use of artillery ammunition like the high Mars rocket system that comes from the US because those are the only weapons that will break up Russian forces as they organize themselves for an offense so shooting into Russ with with long range Precision Rockets like the highas what else so the next thing Ukraine is it must have more soldiers it’s got to get a move on with mobilizing more of its own citizens and training them to fight now that isn’t something you can fix in weeks this is about stabilizing the front line in the medium to long term and then it needs enough weapons and equipment that can only come from the west and this year that can only come from the us but we should recognize the European Union has delivered about half of what it promised it has to do better or Ukraine may lose I is it just a a matter now of resources of men and material or is there are there sort of strategic or tactical shifts that might give one side or or the other an advantage so without weapons and ammunition there isn’t a fight to be had but then two things really do matter first of all Ukraine has to sustain its will to fight because nobody else is going to send their Sons and Daughters to fight for them they’ve got to find more people and then they’ve got to fight well they need training not training to stand in a trench with a helmet on and a rifle but training if necessary to go onto the offensive in a big Force perhaps next year to push the Russians out otherwise this war will stabilize about where it is now next year 2025 2025 maybe even 2026 this isn’t a war you can fight against the calendar it’s got to be about resources and being ready but saw last summer this much vaunted summer offensive all this sort of hype and expectation that Ukraine was going to be able to roll back the Russian Invaders they had done that in KV they had done that in Kon why were they unable to do that in zapar isia well there was a really big difference last year in that by the summer of of last year Russia had built a formidable set of defenses with mines and trenches and artillery and tanks in in support and the Ukraine force was never big enough nor good enough to break through that sort of Defense so that’s the challenge and how does that change simply with more better trained troops a lot more Firepower a lot more training a lot more people for long enough to endure to break through where they can break through a formidable Russian defense which is why I say you might get to that point next year but it may be 2026 Richard like throughout throughout this war there’s there’s been these moments where we’ve focused or at least Ukraine has really sort of put a lot of concentration on particular weapon systems so uh we saw that with long range rocket artillery uh we saw that with tanks most recently and and still ongoing is the demand for f16s and yet we also heard from uh General uh Zusi when he was the commander chief that he did not expect what he described as a beautiful breakthrough I mean is there any one weapon system or any combination of weapon systems that you think could tip the tide tip the balance rather so it’s us usually Folly to look for some sort of Silver Bullet the the the magic new weapon that changes everything on the battlefield the fact is that if you’re going to fight you need four things in balance and in strength you need enough people you need them equipped you need them well enough trained and you need them supported with ammunition spare parts and medical support and those things all take time to organize f-16’s likely to make any significant difference when they arrive when the F-16 arrives it will make a difference because it will give Ukraine Air Force the ability to deter Russian air aircraft that are flying over Russian forces but within 40 kilometers of Ukrainian positions and releasing these formidable Glide bombs but it’ll only be a part of changing the balance in Ukraine and what about Ukraine’s campaign that we’ve seen going uh they’ve been hitting these oil refineries they have been hitting targets deep inside Russian soil I mean this takes us back to where we started you know you’re saying they need to hit Russia Russian targets inside Russia they have have been doing that to some extent I mean they’ve hit the drones have reached the Kremlin they’ve hit oil refineries they’ve hit train lines and Logistics hubs hundreds possibly thousands of miles inside Russia is that the right I mean do you think that’s the right strategy to pursue and do you think it’s going to make a difference well they make a difference but but not really in material or military terms they they shock the Russian people they make it harder for the Russian government to deny that there is still some sort of minor operation going on in in Ukraine terms of the actual physical effect it’s quite small you you you break a railway and then 24 hours later the railway will be fixed so they do have an effect it’s mostly psychological but you knock out enough oil refineries some suggestions 14 10 to 14% taken out oil prices go up I mean if they keep doing that could that choke Russia’s ability to wage war so we need to recognize that Russia is now essentially an an energy company that uses the money to buy weapons and ammunition so if you choke off that supply of energy they they might have uh less money to buy weapons but but these are still really pin Pricks and one of the more remarkable and I think regretable aspects of this is when Ukraine has targeted Russian the oil infrastructure there appear to be quite words coming from the US don’t do this because you can’t put the oil price up in the year of a US election that’s no way to fight a war General uh Sir Richard BR thank you very much if I understood correctly the three things that Ukraine needs to do to win they need to hit targets in Russia uh they need to they need more men uh better trained troops and uh commitment from allies to continue providing enough weapons and we’ve got to do two things what we’re talking about today is giving them enough of all of those things to hold the line and and we need to recognize if we don’t do that and Ukraine crumbles then the war Comes to Europe the thing we’ we’ve been trying to avoid and it is madness trying to fight a war for some sort of score draw you have to go all in and win on your own terms but we’re not yet having the conversation about what Ukraine has to do to get the capability it needs to start to throw the Russians out of their country and that is a different order of magnitude roughly three times the bill of a successful defense General s Richard Barons uh thank you for joining me on World at War I’m the sons defense editor Jerome starky and if you’re watching this on YouTube and you have any questions please ask them in the comments below and we’ll do our best to answer them next week [Music]

Pourtant les soldats russes sont en belarussie,et leurs armes, l'Europe c'est maintenant que sa ce joue, arrêter votre naïveté
Thanks.
Desperation Downfall via "The Goebbles"..😎🇷🇺👍
Wondering if the new defense minister is really aware of the Russian losses. In his speech he recognized that the families of the dead and wounded needed support. Guessing that would put a huge strain on the Russian economy 🤔
Long range weapons : Russia literally made it clear it will strike Britian if its weapons are used to target inside of Russia, Macron literally had to roll back on this last week
Demand for manpower : the draft age is literally 25 – 65. Whats next ? 18-75 ? Yall trying to kill off multiple generations of ukrainians ?
F-16s : Ukrainian aircrafts are literally being shot down hundreds of kilometers behind the frontlines, F-16 wont make a difference, they arent stealth aircraft.
How about finally sucking it up and going to peace deals on Russian conditions before they start targetting Western Ukraine .
If Ukraine looses this war in my view it will be the west fault… NATO fault.
I want moon cheese, so I need a rocket ship, a space suit, and a cheese slicer that works upside in space, with them 3 things why I could sell moon cheese to robots in Andorra, yeyhey
The SUN be like: Ukraine is bravely advancing towards Poland 👍🤓👍
I can guarantee that if Finland was not a NATO country, Russia would have also occupied something there. Putin is desperate to show some sort of win by doing easy things near the Russian border.
Yes you can win but you will not exist anymore !😆🤣😃
Dam right I won’t be sending my kids away to fight strangers in suits and ties wars that’s for sure …. Now stop sending cash and weapons and just all collectively say the simple word NO !!!’
Uncommon sense at last!
if this was a real war … never ever … and i am the ding dong 🤡
I have no idea how they keep a straight face, it's a talent, not particularly a useful one.
I think both countries are just about done. All that is left is negotiation. Is it really worth the human life 🤷♂️
He's right but will anyone listen?
He’s just another liar 😂😂😂😂😂😂. He should go to Ukraine and’s fight 😂😂😂
one expert proves everything = liberal rags tactic to push opinion as facts
Our world is a tapestry of deep harmony, intricately woven from the fabric of our natural mother Earth. It is imperative that our global society prioritizes stability, natural harmony, and peace. For this, the superpowers of both the East and the West must extend mutual respect to each other, safeguarding the delicate equilibrium of our world's societies and maintaining a balanced power axis.
Eastern European countries, historically tied to Russia through shared experiences within the USSR, bear natural bonds that run deep. These nations cherish their cultures, traditions, and intimate relationships, fostering unity and mutual respect within the region.
These Eastern European nations, representing the pinnacle of European civilization, actively engage in multifaceted exchanges with both Western and Eastern superpowers. They collaborate with leading nations such as Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain, the USA, China, India, among others, contributing significantly to global progress and development.
While recognizing their economic ties with Western powers, it is crucial for these nations to prioritize regional peace and prosperity. Joining military alliances like NATO may introduce destabilizing elements to their regions, disrupting the delicate balance of power in the world. Instead, they advocate for peaceful cooperation and mutual respect among all nations.
It is incumbent upon Western superpowers to acknowledge Russia's pivotal role as a major global power and to respect its contributions to maintaining world stability. Attempts to undermine Russia's influence may lead to unnecessary conflicts, posing risks to global peace.
By upholding respect and cooperation among all nations, including Russia and Western superpowers, we can collectively work towards fostering lasting peace, stability, and prosperity for all.

Enough of the maybe the Marvel War Hero’s will help “next year” to win the war crap?! It’s such an unrealistic drama: Joe Biden’s “foreign war policy”, European Union double talk & Ukraine’s intransigence to draft its people to bolster its army?! It’s a lose, lose, lose situation by a bunch of Neville Chamberlain underlings. History repeating itself before our Internet eyes. Slave Ukrainians will be speaking Russian soon enough.
I think iot's about time for the Western leaders to confess to themselves and to their people whether the want Ukraine not to lose or for Ukraine to win.. These are two very different goals and aquire very different approaches, involvement and resources transferred to Ukraine. Enough is enough. It's time to put out or shut up… Be honest and say this to your voters…. Are we here to prolong the pain and suffering of the Ukrainian people or are we gonna send some serious stuff to end the Russian invasion.?
How can a British person give advice on winning a war?
You forget about aviation
Europe, you might wanna think about helping Ukraine a lot more than what you’re doing ? Or Putin will be your Daddy ?
The bill was signed a month ago..Every single day since that aid bill was signed ammunition and weapons have been coming into ukraine. Every single day. Ukraine has artillery. We are now seeing artillery in the videos instead of just drones.
BS, the oil price wont go up because of the missile, drone strikes.
Last summers offensive was obviiously going to fail….because the world advertised it. THey even knew exactly where they were gonna hit by the time they did.
To be clear though they did break thru multiple lines of defenses last summer.
It is the usual with the jets…and everything else ..once they get it they say it is irrelevant now, and ask for more
That drone that blew over the kremlin was 100 percent a russian false flag attack. Ukraine wouold never waste a mission on that.
Look Russia is cleaning up all the scrap metal and sending it back to be refined.
We have not had that conversation?> since day one all conversations are about how to get russia out. Brits always think they know it all, and speculate on everything.
Biden is weaker and stupider than Putin, that’s why war is favorable to Russia at this moment.
RUSSIAN RT Version of PUTINS … 3 Day War PUTINs Russian Black Sea Naval Fleet has Retreated " VICTORIOUSLY " from Crimea KYIV was a " FEINT" , KHARKIV Oblast was a " REGROUPING " , SNAKE ISLAND was a " GOODWILL GESTURE " , KHERSON FOREVER was a " VICTORIOUS Retreat " You Russians have RETREATED " VICTORIOUSLY " for TWO YEARS PUTIN has been Awarded " NATO Salesman of the Year as FINLAND & SWEDEN are Now in NATO Putin in 2022 " WE WILL DEMILITARIZE UKRAINE " PUTIN in 2023 " 1950 s T-54 TANKS , Chinese Golf Carts and BEGGING North Korea for Ammo" The Entire World is Laughing at the Russian LOSERS as Russia Collapses ………AGAIN 😀
I've heard that Russia's crude oil exports have gone up and at discount prices. Wouldn't this cause oil prices to go down? Ukraine has only targeted Russian refineries which impacts the Russian ability to refine crude oil domestically. The Ukrainians have yet to target Russia's ability to produce oil.
ENGLAND AND USA to blame….You guys got together to shoot down missiles coming from Iran towards Israel….BUT YET ISRAEL IS NOT PART OF NATO but you involved in the Israel war against Gaza…To help Ukraine that is part and connected to the democracy of Europe USA and Allies just let the missiles and drones from Russia murder many Ukraine civilians….this is totally wrong
the Russian army could not keep Kharkiv even when 50 miles long Z notorious terror convoy was at its peak!
Putler is just squandering the Russian wealth on a lost war!
Gloria all'Ucraina. Gloria agli eroi. Morte ai nemici
Gloria all'Ucraina. Gloria agli eroi. Morte ai nemici
Ah, so that clarifies things… Russia has an unfair advantage.
These people are pure evil. Everytime Ukraine gets a reality check, US/UK sends someone to pickup Zelensky, pour some more courage into him and shove him back at Russia. To this day their only publicly expressed strategy for Ukraine, is to keep shoving a knife into their hand 'for as long as it takes' for Russia to wear out its AK on them. They have put Ukraine into a perpetual double down condition, desperately counting on a lucky draw to win back some of what they've lost, before their marker is called in.
Sir Richard Barrons is a General, so of course he wants 3x as much of everything than is currently available. The military war is only part of it though. There is an economic and a political dimension too. Can Putin / Russia outlast Zelensky / Ukraine? At some point one side will fold and collapse catastrophically. If Ukraine collapses militarily then Europe will become involved in fighting. If Ukraine collapses politically (eg a coup) then that looks like a Russian win. If Ukraine can maintain the current front line while maximising Russian losses at 3x or more of Ukrainian losses then eventually Ukraine will win. If Ukraine can gain the upper hand in the air and improve its air defences generally then that tips things in their favour. If Russia keeps up their meat wave attacks and lose most of their armour, APCs, tanks and artillery while only causing minor attrition on the Ukrainian side then eventually Ukraine can win. The Russian military will eventually collapse or mutiny.
my stupid government wont let ukraine fire into russia. thats like saying "dont fight the bully too hard". i dont understand!
Ukraine can beat Zelensky and remain alive. Last option.
