1. Reuters, once again, shows its anti-Israel bias. If you were to read just the title, it would sound as though Israel is foolish and that it is normal to have armed men at a UN site for protection.

   The correct title: Why are the armed men not wearing uniforms at the UN site?

Reuters verified the location of video released by the Israeli army but could not verify when it was filmed or the identity of the men.

   UNRWA has denied cooperating with Hamas.

   > The agency said it was examining the images and would share information when possible. Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri told Reuters the men were there to protect aid distribution.
   “These are false allegations and lies. This is a police force tasked with securing aid centres against acts of theft and looting,” Abu Zuhri told Reuters.

   Okay, Israel asked, UNRWA answered with a fairly reasonably explanation. What’s the big deal? Everyone is just assuming they are lying? If that’s the case, why is Israel asking them to explain themselves if they already believe they are working with Hamas? They either accept the explanation or prove that it’s false. You can’t just ask for one and then deny it immediately for no reason.

   > The U.N. is investigating a strike on a car in Rafah this week that killed its first international staff member since Oct. 7, a retired Indian army officer en route to the European Hospital. It blamed tank fire in an area where only Israeli tanks were present.

   > Some 254 aid workers have been killed in Gaza since the war began, including 191 U.N. staff, according to the U.N..
   Global watchdog The Committee to Protect Journalists said at least 105 media workers have also died.

   Seems more like we should be asking Israel why they keep killing UN staff.

3. Probably to protect aid workers from the IDF

4. These people are Hamas full stop. I don’t care what they are there to do – they are part of terrorist organization and are in the freaking war zone. They are legitimate targets and by extension make that UN convoy a target too. It would do well for UNRWA to not allow terrorist to be anywhere near the convoys.
