This sign…

  1. This is a riff off an old Liverpool saying. Edge Hill is the penultimate station before the train’s termination at Lime Street. In the age of steam, the trains would have to slow down to negotiate the curves around Edge Hill, with the train being so slow, people would illegally jump off the moving train before the official last stop So making it quicker to get home. This fact meant that when men were tyring to have unprotected sex with women they would say “Don’t worry love I’ll jump off at Edge Hill, meaning of course they would promise to withdraw before climax.

    phew what a long explanation

  2. It’s a variation of “You can hop off at Manors, but once you’ve reached Billy Mill Roundabout there ain’t no stopping.”.

    An old Viz quote.

“approaching the Billy Mill roundabout” – a euphemism for premature ejaculation.

The Billy Mill Roundabout is on the approach road into Newcastle.

  3. I passed this sign the other day ….you only see it from the train 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣….class banter 👌🏻

  4. There was a company called Climax Scaffolding (don’t know if they’re still in business) used them on a few projects in the area. I still have a promotional tape measure!
    They always guaranteed an erection…
