  1. This isn’t about banning laws enforcing masks. This is about telling ANYONE who might decide to wear a mask they are no longer allowed to do so in public.

There was like a small window right at the start of COVID and the masks that I thought “Wow. Maybe American society will finally become more like many Asian countries and you will see people during cold and flu season now wear masks on the subway or at work to reduce the spread of their germs.”

So much for the party of de-regulation and choice.

  2. r/Whatcouldgowrong ? The next outbreak is just around the corner.

  3. Is this the “freedom” republicans jaw about? Telling people they’re not allowed to wear masks to avoid getting sick?

  4. So .. Proud Boys and the KKK can wear masks to hide their faces. But if I am immunocompromised, I have a choice between death and banishment from public?

Cruelty is the point. Republicans can’t govern.

  5. No officer I’m not wearing this mask for health reasons I’m cosplaying

  6. My state sucks. I’m going to sneeze on any Maga fucking dipshit I see on the streets as part of my freedom. Bullshit

  7. Real reason for this: NC is leveling up in the competition for Legislature Darwin Awards. Next time someone passes a stinky one in an elevator and one of these ‘Senators’ pulls out a hanky to cover their nose – arrest them!

  8. Also LOVE THE IRONY THAT THEY THINK BUSINESSES HAVE TO ALLOW FREE SPEECH BUT AN ACTUAL FREE SPEECH VIOLATION IS OKAY!!! wtf I cannot stand the hypocrisy. I’m going to wear a fucking mask into every store that puts those signs up, then complain they are violating the first amendment like they all scream about for the opposite. Suddenly they will be on the other side. I hate this fucking timeline of American politics.

  9. I think someone who has to wear a mask in public for their health should sue the living shit out of that state

  10. Just write “Fuck Republicans” on the mask and wear it. Then sue the state for violating your first amendment rights if they try to enforce the law.

  11. They couldn’t stand to be shamed so are now going overboard to punish everyone and shift blame. They were called out for their selfishness on not wearing masks and now they pretend masks, social distancing, and other preventive measures are bad and it’s the people that cared to take these measures that are the selfish ones.

  12. This violates free speech right? Clothing and accessories are considered “speech’…

  13. Looks like I’m gonna mask up on purpose when I’m down there this year. I wasn’t going to originally but now it’s a matter of principle. Time to rustle some moron jimmies.

  14. So when I was hacking my lungs out in the airport there a couple of weeks ago, they would rather I didn’t wear a mask?

Now I’m pissed I paid $30 into that state for lunch and snacks. I’ll be more careful of my layovers next time.

  15. This is what happens when “Being A Complete Fucking Idiot” becomes a political ideology

Republicans have legit re-branded as the Party of Stupid

  16. So cops can wear gas masks when tear gassing protesters?

  17. So carpenters, asbestos removers, exterminators, painters, immunocompromised people can’t wear masks?

  18. >Republican supporters of the ban said it would help police crack down on protesters who wear masks

    >As Republicans have shrugged off Democrats’ concerns, they’ve said they trust police officers not to abuse the power to arrest anyone for wearing a surgical mask out in public

  19. Brought to you by the state that kicked off bathroom regulation.

  20. Fuck me for currently wearing a mask at work because my husband tested positive while im still negative! /s

  21. It is a good thing I only wear masks for religious reasons.

  22. We are barreling towards Idiocracy levels of governing at a shockingly fast pace.

  23. So how does this affect Halloween?

The full article also mentioned that they passed a law to make it easier for billboard companies to chop trees down.

What kind of psycho wants more billboards?

  24. Unreal. This would basically form the legal groundwork for a statewide dress-code. “No skirts above the knee (that’s grooming children). No dyed hair (that’s against natural biology, and could be used to evade the police). No tee-shirts with words that the state hasn’t already approved (that’s sedition).” That’s all on the table if this kind of unbelievably unconstitutional garbage is accepted.

*And those things don’t even have to do with personal health and wellbeing!*

This country is going to shit, one fascist politician at a time.

  25. This feels like a law that will be selectively enforced. College age black kids wearing a mask, go to jail, white elderly cancer patient, given a pass.

  26. If you get sick you should attend a session and let that phlegm fly.

  27. “My body, my choice,” I believe was the line we were told in 2020 by people who didn’t want to wear masks

  28. So personal freedom is once again removed by dumb ass Republicans?

  29. I live in NC. I don’t wear a mask anymore. But part of me wants to start wearing one again just to test out this stupid law. Such a waste of time. So disappointed in this state

  30. They gotta be able to see those faces for their cc cameras with ai face tracking capability.

  31. North Carolina is a pro-communicable diseases state now.

  32. Even disregarding health concerns, I’m pretty sure this could be challenged on First Amendment grounds. “Freedom of expression”

Government can’t say what you can or can’t wear, with limited exceptions

  33. I’m not gonna tell anyone why I’m wearing a mask because it’s not their fucking business.

  34. What happened to that “small government, personal freedoms” party…

  35. You’re only supposed to wear a mask when you burn crosses!

  36. Ok I won’t wear the mask for health reasons. It will be for religious reasons or just because it’s my fashion.

Yet another example of the people who “hate when government tells them what to do” goes and votes for exactly that.

  37. Police office up in my face after ordering me to remove my mask, challenging me why I was breaking the law. After a couple of mild coughs I’d say because I have tuberculosis and it’s highly infectious. Let’s see the mood on his face change then.

  38. This is just absolutely fucking wild. These fools have lost their damn minds. Party of small government in action here folks look at them go

  39. We’ve gotta do something about the level of stupidity in this country. It’s really frustrating and embarrassing.

Imagine how much better life would be without these masses of morons. Neanderthals had more sense than this.

We need to make education great again.

Is anybody scared about the future? The longer this shit goes on the stupid decisions will pile up and we will be the poorest, most illbred inhabitants of the world–unless we get exterminated. …but maybe we already are.

  40. Are you guys sick of this shit yet? They claim they are for freedom but the ONLY things they do legislatively take AWAY your freedoms. This is a stupid law from agitated morons that will hurt many many people all because of a political ideology divorced from reality.

    **2024 NC Dem Election Overview:**

North Carolina is one of the most important swing states in 2024. Not only is it a Presidential swing state with 16 electoral votes, it also has a critical Governor’s race in 2024, with Democrat [**Josh Stein**](https://ballotpedia.org/Josh_Stein) running against an [extreme MAGA candidate](https://www.realmarkrobinson.com/). Democratic incumbent [**Donald Davis**](https://ballotpedia.org/Donald_Davis) also has a close race to defend his US House seat (NC-1).

At the state level, Democrats can break the Republican supermajorities in both chambers of the state legislature by flipping one seat in the [**State Senate election**](https://ballotpedia.org/North_Carolina_State_Senate_elections,_2024), and one seat in the [**State House election**](https://ballotpedia.org/North_Carolina_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2024). There is also one [**State Supreme Court seat**](https://ballotpedia.org/North_Carolina_Supreme_Court_elections,_2024) on the ballot. Finally, Democrat [**Mo Green**](https://ballotpedia.org/Mo_Green) is running for Superintendent of Public Instruction against a [MAGA extremist with insane views](https://www.huffpost.com/entry/michele-morrow-north-carolina-superintendent-of-public-instruction_n_65e8985ce4b0170871fc97dd). This position oversees public education for the whole state, so it is an extremely important race.
