6. Shows the folly of trying to remain neutral against an aggressor, especially when that neutrality isn’t backed up by any real military deterrence like Singapore or financial leverage like Switzerland.

   The Republic of Ireland needs both a military of actual note and civilian intelligence agency if she is to deter Russian aggression like this, not just for the mutual good of Europe but for her own sake as well.

7. Ireland desperately needs to overhaul its armed forces . They have virtually no navy (only a few patrol ships and not enough sailors to man them all) and no airforce to speak of other than some transport planes and helicopters. Ireland is wholly underequipped to defend itself from virtually any nation, particularly Russia . Massive investment is needed in the Irish Defence Forces or Russia will just take advantage even more so.

11. I live and work in Ireland, literally everyone around me at work and everywhere else speaks russian. At work 90% of the people speak russian. So I guess it’s not strange to see this
