Another year of an embarrassing capitancy by a player who should have been playing in 2nd division.
Sergi is a solid professional, useful against low level la liga teams, and doesnt require special finances to renew as his contract is very low & it is a renewal, not a new signing.
None of us want him playing in high profile matches, but this is a no-brainer for a rotational player, a veteran, and a leader. Its up to the club to get better players for the starting spots.
He is making 10% of the Frenkie & Lewa contracts, a similar amount to Peña, Romeu, and the youth contracts of Cubarsi & Roque. I wouldnt be surprised if the renewal is even less.
If you could have one of the three of Peña, Roberto, and Romeu on the team its very obviously Sergi.
We deserve every bad result coming our way.
