my ladies my lords this is a warrant under his Majesty’s sign manual appointing John Ramsey swinny to be first minister of the Scottish government is it your ladyship’s and your lordship’s pleasure that it be read and recorded hereby appoint the S John Ramsey swiy to the office of the first minister of the Scottish government jior pleasure Mr swiny will you now take the Oaths relative to the to the office first of all the official oath you swear that you will well and truly serve his majesty King Charles in the office of first minister of the Scottish government and now the keeper of the seal official oath you swear that you will well and truly serve his majesty King Charles in the office of Keeper of the Scottish seal and finally the oath of Allegiance you swear that you will be faithful and bear true allegiance to his majesty King Charles his heirs and successors according to law will you now sign the parchment

John Swinney became Scotland’s seventh first minister on Wednesday after taking his oath at a formal ceremony at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

  6. Actually Scottish he Tartan Tories Jogn Swinney you know him Thomas yes meet him Glasgow Anniesland bye election 2000. Took 11 years SNP win Glasgow Anniesland by 7 votes. Scottish Labour party did recover from it out for 15 years. That May 2026 yes. Nicola sturgeon she win 4 elections in Scotland she popular Thomas.

  16. Just wondering whether or not John Swinney is only stepping in as a temporary measure or if he intends to be there on a much more permanent basis.

    I, personally don't have too much of a problem with Swinney because I think that he's perhaps one of the SNP's most intelligent and more reasonable people.

    I never really used to like him, but he appears to have mellowed and when listening to him speaking he often talks a lot of sense.

    But much more importantly he's always struck me as a real decent person who genuinely cares.

  22. Not many Scots are looking forward to him taking the poison chalice. The SNP are quite the joke. It's not funny for the working Scots, though. The people of Scotland deserve better than this bunch of misfits. Respect from Stoke-on-Trent.

  33. I seriously long for the day a scottish foreigner is the one to bring scotland independence. All these weird comments about “white this, white that” are just jarring. Have some real substance and battles in your lives please
