Aaron Ramsdale has reportedly agreed to join Newcastle this summer.

The Arsenal goalkeeper has fallen behind David Raya in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium this season.

According to Sky Sports' James Green, Ramsdale is now set to sign for Newcastle at the end of the campaign.

  3. Strange one, don’t think he’s going to be clearly ahead of pope and is likely going to have to still fight to be number one

  4. He’s not that good and prone to mistakes that lead to goals. Definitely a weird transfer. Pope is much better.

  6. Team News and Ticks, a very reliable source for Arsenal on X, hasn’t outright confirmed a signing but said Newcastle is the club name he consistently hears when discussing a Ramsdale move.  

  7. Does this mean Pope is leaving? I can’t see Ramsdale going to Newcastle if Pope stays, he would likely still be backup or at best competing for the #1 spot. There are plenty of Premier League clubs where he would be the undisputed starter. Doubting this

  8. That would be a good signing as he’s better than Pope, and is still young enough to improve

  9. I highly doubt this, if he goes to Newcastle and can’t dislodge Pope (which he won’t) then Ramsdale probably loses his spot as the no.2 goalkeeper for England as well as barely playing for his club side.

    Unless Newcastle are planning on trying to offload Pope, which isn’t completely out of the question given he’s spent a good amount of time injured in the last couple of seasons, I just don’t see why Ramsdale goes there.

    I could see Leicester making a loan move for him thought tbh!

  11. Ramsdale to Newcastle seems to be discussed a lot but doesn’t really seem to make sense, for him or Newcastle, unless pope is leaving.
